Has Tech ever had as many beefy bigs? Dale Solomon, Terry Taylor

Can't find a pic of Jimmy Carruth anywhere. 6' 10"
and pretty beefy I recall.

im high on this years team- but last year vt’s bigs were arguably better
maybe poteat and kidd will pan out - but im not convinced basile is better than keve and kidd and poteat could easily turn out to be the same level as DNG and Okiako- hard to make anything of significantly under matched competition

So far we are
I mean Basile = 20.5 and 9 and that does not count what numbers that Poteat and Kidd got when they were playing the 5 spot but If I had to guess I would say 25 and 14 total through 2 games for that spot so I think we are doing pretty well . Better Mutts is back and probably improved since last year at least he looked like it last night so I actually think we are as good and may be better . Defense we will wait and see

I think depth is one of the main reasons why we might actually be better
inside this year, or at least make up for the loss of Aluma. This season, our backup bigs are Kidd, Poteat, and Camden, in comparison to only having N'guessan as a legitimate option last season (Ojiako only played 6 MPG in 20 games and never made a significant impact). We really didn't have someone last season that could sub in for Aluma and guard a true center (and Aluma himself even struggled with the top centers in the league). This year we have Poteat, who seems to be a good defender inside, and also Kidd who is 6'10" and seems to at least have the physical ability to do so. We have options, different types of bigs, which we did not have last season. Also while Basile won't replace Aluma, he is a better shooter than Aluma and seems to be a great offensive player. The big question with him is can he defend ACC bigs. Also, I think Mutts has improved and is in for a big year. He looked really good last night.

We've never been this deep at center and I've been following VT BBall for
50 years. It still amazes me how fast Coach Young had transformed this team and made it his own. And I believe Coach Pry will do the same in football. Might take longer but he'll get it done.
