This season, our backup bigs are Kidd, Poteat, and Camden, in comparison to only having N'guessan as a legitimate option last season (Ojiako only played 6 MPG in 20 games and never made a significant impact). We really didn't have someone last season that could sub in for Aluma and guard a true center (and Aluma himself even struggled with the top centers in the league). This year we have Poteat, who seems to be a good defender inside, and also Kidd who is 6'10" and seems to at least have the physical ability to do so. We have options, different types of bigs, which we did not have last season. Also while Basile won't replace Aluma, he is a better shooter than Aluma and seems to be a great offensive player. The big question with him is can he defend ACC bigs. Also, I think Mutts has improved and is in for a big year. He looked really good last night.
