Scrimmage?
Have either of our BB teams had a scrimmage with another team preseason? If so, does anyone know results? Can’t wait to see both teams play.

Sounds like we may be in for a rough start
Richmond is in rebuild mode and picked 7th in A-10.

It was a scrimmage. It means nothing. Coaches are tinkering with ....
... possible lineups and working on specific situations while trying to get new guys acclimated.

Scrimmages are for evaluation. The score means nothing.

Wrong. Richmond has a forward who will get
Drafted next year and 3 6-10 plus centers including a 3 year D1 starter. They have 3 strong D1 transfers and will contend for the A-10 title.

I wouldn’t draw many or maybe any conclusions based on a scrimmage. MY
I’m sure played many different combinations and his main goal was not to “ win” the scrimmage but to get a feel for how his team with a lot of new pieces would react in certain situations and scenarios. He will be several weeks into season and will still be tinkering with different line ups I feel sure. Players have to learn to play together etc. ** Edited by uber hokie at 10/26/2022, 1:30:02 PM

I am sure both teams emptied their benches...
These games are not about winning, they are about seeing how various guys respond to real competition and how well certain combinations play together. You cannot project anything from them IMO.

Friend of mine is the shot clock operator for VT.
Said there was very liberal substitution by both teams throughout the scrimmage/exhibition with a lot of situational plays.

Yep - these are worse than NFL preseason games in terms of learning ...
anything about the quality of the team. I am kind of surprised they even keep score because that is the last thing the coaches care about.

One moderator on UR board said UR won 56-55. Another said VT won 57-55.
Since the game was obviously very close, I'd just say we tied. No idea about the Liberty scrimmage. Nothing on their board about a score.

Richmond Times Dispatch posted an article this morning saying we won 57-55
So I’m gonna choose to believe that and not the random UR fan 😂.

Men played at Liberty and vs. Richmond this past weekend. Women hosted VCU.

Men played at Liberty.
Believe women may have played JMU at Bburg. There were no official stats provided…..don’t believe it’s allowed by the NCAA for scrimmage/exhibition games.

Played Richmond at home as well
There's a good clip of some ball movement leading to a Basile 3 posted on their Twitter

Is this the video you're talking about?
If that's Basile shooting those NBA 3s, Hokie Nation will be very happy.
