Doing a quick decent when putting one of the pole down it glanced off a flat rock and ricocheted right into my shin and sliced right nice. Probably could have used a few stitches. Thankfully hit my shin bc I'm pretty sure if it hit my calf it would have right through like this fella. Don't know how I didn't fall but one of those moments I stopped and knew I got lucky

I think I remember part of the nickname is due to all the shipwrecks along the coast due to extreme fog. I only know about this area as I have it on my bucket list to visit to see try to see Lion prides that have adapted to coastal life. Namibia geography is pretty harsh so they’ve adapted to live on the coast, I think the only place in the world you find this.

Otherwise PK's after OT is the best imo. The others are just as gimmicky. At least with two normal OT periods you have a chance to win playing the game as designed. Pks at least give the same opportunity to win and teams can absolutely practice and prepare for it.

But instead of a fridge it was my laptop. I had a fancy system set up to have a box fan (only fan I had and I wasn't buying a smaller one for just this) channel air into the laptop where the fan was. Only hard part was when needed to take laptop to class or on campus. I only had about an hour before it would overheat. Worked great and probably dealt with this set up for 9 months. Legit almost set my desk on fire one day and left a burn mark on the desk. Also burnt the heck of my leg bc I forgot it overheats and set on my lap. Didn't buy a new one bc I was starting pharmacy school later that year and everyone got a "free" one as part of tuition.

I remember, wow now 20 years ago, this being a thing. As a male pushing above my weight class it was great knowing a few coeds that had plenty left on their flex plans to buy you dinner or bulk on things dinning halls were trying to get rid of. Think pallets of drinks candy. Was glorious having a lady friend buy you a box of stickers bc they barely used their meal plan.

Let ABS catch the egregious calls but leave a little grey in the game. Not everything has to be perfect. Part of my thinking to is I was catcher and loved having to learn the umps strike zone so you could affect the game by framing pitches, you'll lose that if everything is reviewed. Admittedly I think I'm on the opposite side from most people but think the umps calling balls/strikes should be a core part of baseball.

And it has its moments but but Seinfeld is tops. I think on a daily basis I can reference a Seinfeld episode, which I usually do. Maybe I need to rewatch Raymond since most of my consumption was when I was younger (although so was Seinfeld since it was my dad watching reruns) but there's just many moments in Seinfeld you could call out on daily life. Also Raymond doesn't have a character like Kramer which is top in any series. Obviously how you relate to characters is important but I think Seinfeld was more how you relate to a situation/experience then most series. Just this week I've used pimple popper MD, soup Nazi, lost in a parking deck and the chicken episode talking to various coworkers. An Raymond episode has never come up... Ever.

5 minutes late is disrespectful to anyone waiting. Most show up within 1-2 so can be expected. Waiting the extra 1-2 shows you tried but have other responsibilities to attend to. I will say, if it is actually someone I want to speak to I'll just leave the video up for 15 or so while doing something else but most of the time fall off at 4 minutes. I would move Salomon to serious. If youre buying them you have a purpose in mind. Would move Nike and adidas down to next tier. Mostly bc they are the most popular so law of averages moves it to the middle. Both make some great shoes but also many duds. I would add Altra and Inov8 to serious. Like Salomon, if someone is wearing them in the gym their probably on the more serious side since you don't pick them up just anywhere. Also know this is late to the discussion but anyone buying gym or running shoes should either go to a local shoe store where you can try as many as you want or buy from somewhere you can return. I'm in a bit of an off running period but for many years was buying 10 pairs of new running shoes a year (5 road and 5 trail). Some models I would stay with multiple times but when models changed I would try new options. Most brands if you buy direct allow you to try and return, usually up to minimum 15 days). That is plenty of time to get multiple miles/workouts in to make sure they work. If not that, REI is awesome with returns. At one point I had 8 shoes sent to me to try when they changed my favorite pair of Brooks. Out of 8, only 1 worked, returned the 7, and rocked that one show for a few years. Would've never found it in store at the time

Have wider options for many models. Many of their shoes are more neutral which is great for the gym. I more a runner and hiker but have been a big fan of them so like to mention as many might not have encountered. Best thing with most shoe companies is if you buy direct they all have great return policies. Buy a show, try it out and if it doesn't work return it. Same with REI.

Or is the performance they provide dictates the need? Only asking as I prefer minimalish shoes, 6mm drop or less but minimal cushion. I like to feel the road/trail. However know many, especially those trying to place in races have to go this route because the add benefits. Think these have the carbon sole that, through some science and energy efficiency, make each step "easier". Just curious coming from someone is balking at the new norm/style. Regardless, they cool and fast.

But most companies have filters for applications. I’ve had instances where people apply and I never get the application. I’ve mostly on found out about this because they were individual I knew were applying and was able to ask our HR team where the application was. Almost all the time was they were filtered out due to some stupid reason. That’s why I think calling or emailing the business that you applied is important. At the least, if I someone tells me they are applying I’ll look at their application and if they’ve reached out and their not qualified I’ll give them professional courtesy to tell them that and if they need to do anything differently. Otherwise I just click a “does not meet preferred qualities” button in the hiring portal.

Received well over 400+ applications for various positions that span entry level, mid, professional and leadership roles. I can count on one hand the amount of times someone has reached out proactively about putting in an application. The same amount have sent “thank you for your time” responses after interviewing. We are a large organization so I kind of get not reaching out proactively but my department has an easily searchable phone number so it would take minimal effort. Personally a candidate proactively reaching out would set them apart all other things being equal, especially for entry level jobs. Same with touching base afterwards. I have one employee who originally was not a selection, they reached out after the interview and asked for feedback. I gave it, mostly that they needed more depth in answering questions and to relate experience to the job we’re hiring for (they were decent candidate) and they reapplied when an opening came up and ended up with the job. Pay in this field is similar at most places but our hours and opportunities are the best in the region. One phone call, wanting feedback and implementing definitely changed this persons life (I know bc we’ve talked about it).

Just gave a pair of new Saucony Kinvara's away bc the new model is terrible. Previous versions were great. Same thing years ago with the Brooks Pureflow 4. Great shoe that became less than average for the 5.

Even though there was a true discrepancy in what was invested in the women's v. Men's team the amount invested in women's was still much more then what was invested around the globe. Over the last 6ish years that has evened out so we're seeing that equalize. This all makes sense and it'll likely be like the men's now where there's 4-6 teams that could take it, instead of one (maybe two). Very similar to Olympics basketball.

But big problem is if you are depressed you are much more likely to not start exercising due to general effects of depression. Even if you know it can help it can be hard (very hard) to get out the door and even harder to be consistent. Those who exercise get the benefit of exercise being a mode of anti-depressant I know a therapist who actually does some of his sessions by walking outside. He even has people meet him at local walking trails and paths so people know where to go and see others.
