I find it interesting that men's football and men's basketball have to
make enough money to fund women's sports and scholarships just to make things "fair". Who came up with that? (Don't bother, I know who came up with that, idiots in Washington)

I think there is another type of coding. It happens in medical facilities
where procedures are coded on claims forms for processing by the insurance company.

The saying is good pitching beats good hitting and vice versa. Or you can
say good hitting beats good pitching and vice versa.

No way. Only root for them when they play U-No-hoo. Hidalgo gets the most
obnoxious ***** of the year award every year.

Was enjoyable to watch, though I wish it were more. Some things never
change, he can still recruit and he still cannot coach.

It will only be a great game if Texas outscores Kentucky by
18 points every quarter. Currently end of first quarter 29-11

He was stating that it was no loss. Kayl came to VT when VT needed
players to replace those who left and those who committed and never arrived. She gave a good effort and played in difficult situations. I see no need to bad mouth her. Maybe those who leave read this board and believe they are under appreciated. As a VT grad, I appreciate anyone who wants to play for VT and thank them for wanting to be a part of the good guys. Therefore I too believe the statement was hateful about someone who was trying to help the team in any way, and that effort and dedication should be appreciated if you are truly a Hokie. I guess some of you cannot help yourself.

Not routine but all catchable and would have gotten out of the inning
ahead 1-0 with the bottom of the lineup coming up in the 7th.

Send Lynch. Won't draw a throw and will eliminate a force at second.

Gaby is young, but she needs to position herself to back up throws to first
and second depending on where the throw is coming from. She will probably get some coaching and be just fine on future plays.

I can see where he could be correct. It could take more expense than the
revenue that would be received. It is very possible that what is happening now is actually bringing more revenue to the softball program. Over the last few years I have sent Chip a check for softball each year, and the amounts are far greater than the price I would pay for a ticket. One year I was only able to attend 1 game but sent $300. I believe I am not the only one who fits that description, and possibly more money comes in from contributions than would ever come in through gate receipts. Plus the gate receipts go into the athletic departments general fund, so possibly only a small percentage of the gate receipts would go to softball. I have not seen Whit's numbers and haven't analyzed it but he could be correct. With Chip's fundraising abilities there is additional revenue without any department involvement or cost.
Is it possible that the department is considering an upgrade to the softball facilities, and does not want to spend money now that would be better spent later when all fencing and security measures could be addressed? I don't know, just a possibility. As much as the department seeks revenue I don't think Whit would refuse the revenue if he though it would bring in more than it would cost.

Their first half was awful. I guess you
really didn't have an answer either. (or maybe you didn't understand the issue)

They played no one. Oregon would have beaten them by 30.

I think not playing will make them a lot better. I wish I would have known
those candy asses would refuse to play before I renewed season tickets. I may have saved some money. I guess we should not be surprised, they played most of the season as though they were not interested in post season.

Hopefully you can respond and assist me in understanding your post. In the
second inning coach used a pinch hitter, Luginbill, to bat for Rohs. Luginbill delivered, bringing in the first two and only runs of the game. So you state that Rohs is hitting the ball so much better this year, so you would have let her hit in the second inning? So if she is hitting the ball so much better, why would you want to pinch hit for her later in the game when it was not possible because she had already be substituted for. Is she hitting better and therefore should bat, or should he hit for her? Not sure your position.
As for your suggestion he needs to advance runners, according to the game stats, there were only 5 put outs on fly balls to the outfield, and for 4 of those it was either the final out of the inning or there was no one on base. No chances to advance runners there. When Rohs came up in the 4th and the bases were loaded (and it seems you wanted a pinch hitter although maybe you didn't because she was hitting so much better, not sure which) Rohs hit into a fielders choice where Foster was out at the plate on a force play, should Foster have tried to steal home in order to "advance runners" therefore not getting forced at home? Obviously it would have been foolish to try to steal home, but my point is there were not that many opportunities to advance runners. Furthermore, advancing runners needs to be done when there is a very high probably of success, otherwise you are running yourself out of an inning. When you have a lineup where everyone is hitting over .300 I like our probability of the next batter getting a hit as opposed to the probability of stealing a base or taking a risky chance on the bases where getting thrown out ends the inning and that next batter hitting over .300 doesn't get to the plate with runners on base. Sometimes that runner on on first is not the fastest player on the team and therefore should not try to steal second to avoid the double play.
Decisions to challenge calls must be much easier from home when you have the benefit of replay.

If you just looked at the game statistics you may have concluded that VT
won the game. VT had more hits, received more base on balls and had fewer errors in the field. One difference was Duke bunched their hits which created runs while VT hits were spread out. But maybe the biggest reason was those two double plays where they were tailor made, ball hit perfectly and not our fastest runner batting. Yesterday was the perfect storm, things are not as bad as they seem.

Their defense was not that good, those double plays were just hit
perfectly for them. Nice hops, etc. Just not our day. The third baseman made a nice play to get the runner at second, but other than that there were no spectacular plays. No diving catches etc.

Hits, yes, but no timely hitting. One particular hitter tried to pull an
outside pitch and hit a weak grounder instead of going with the pitch when there were runners on.

All stats in tale of the tape (for 2026) say VT is better, except walks,
HBP and complete games. And complete games is not key.

If that is your strategy why have coaches on the bases? When someone hits
ball let them run as many bases as they want or until they get tagged. After all, (as you say) stranding runners is for wussies. "Send them" (as you say) as soon as they hit the ball.
