This is exceptional! Many don't realize how stressful it is to balance
academics and D1 athletics. Says a lot about these young women and the support offered.

IMO, combination of several factors. Seeing better pitching, I agree. But
our hitting philosophy and mechanics seem to emphasize power, launch angle and exit velocity. People love the long ball and a hard hit ball gets through the infield quickly and is harder to handle. However, if your weight is transferring early to generate maximum power, it's tough to adjust to off-speed/ball movement. Also, if you're bottom hand strong (squeezing the bat) to maximize pull through the zone, it's tough as nails to hit low outside pitches. Swinging as hard as you can also reduces bat control and harder to hit the ball squarely on the barrel. Think of it this way for you golfers... how consistently do you hit the ball swinging as hard as you can?
There are several hitting philosophies out there. I don't have a problem with what is being taught or emphasized. It's all about making mechanic adjustments to the pitches, the count and the pitchers.

Agree completely, Chip. I like chatter but also players
concentrating on small details that could give us an advantage. Many got really good at it. When I coached, I had a back-up catcher that could steal pitch signs regularly. Smart kid that contributed to many wins. Some players excelled at pitchers tipping pitches, outfield throwing mechanics that let us know who we could advance a base on, hitter's mechanics, etc. There's a lot more going on that meets the eyes and ears.

With OK, FL, and Tx left, there's a lot of softball to play yet. Not worth
the effort to think about it at this point. There will be lots of ups and downs before selection day.

This seems like an example of terrible hiring practices and
lazy background checks. Calling references is the minimum. Calling former players, parents, etc. might've brought up red flags. The players of these two apparently suffered a lot.

Nevermind. Looked below. Didn't see the game. Errors happen. Pitchers
sometime don't have their best stuff. Gutting out a win when you're not at your best is what's important. We've seen how this team is capable of playing... competitive with every opponent. Staying fresh, focused, healthy and working together increases our chances of winning. I still don't understand what you meant that we have 'lots to work on'. But that's just me.

Agree with no walks/HBP. But also no errors which give extra
outs in an inning. Duke had 3 errors. No freebies and solid defense wins games.

First game of the year for both teams in cold conditions and
that was our "best" is comical. I guess she's trying to be motivational. Agree with you, Chip. One game/one pitch at a time. Wishing our ballplayers good hops, good timing, and good focus.

No Dutch Fork High School in Va. Bio says he played at Western Albemarle
his Freshman year. He must've moved to SC after that. His hometown says Irmo, SC. That's where Dutch Fork HS is.

I don't see Chesney jumping JMU to Penn St. PSU still considers
themselves perennial players on the football stage. I'd think it will be more likely a big 10 or big 12 perennial mid/low program where he'll end up. Purdue, Maryland, Rutgers - type programs.

Yep. Owned the Sun Belt for a couple of years before JMU entered.
Maybe SEC Florida was too big of a leap. I think Cignetti was smart to go where he did. The bar was low in Indiana.
