our hitting philosophy and mechanics seem to emphasize power, launch angle and exit velocity. People love the long ball and a hard hit ball gets through the infield quickly and is harder to handle. However, if your weight is transferring early to generate maximum power, it's tough to adjust to off-speed/ball movement. Also, if you're bottom hand strong (squeezing the bat) to maximize pull through the zone, it's tough as nails to hit low outside pitches. Swinging as hard as you can also reduces bat control and harder to hit the ball squarely on the barrel. Think of it this way for you golfers... how consistently do you hit the ball swinging as hard as you can? There are several hitting philosophies out there. I don't have a problem with what is being taught or emphasized. It's all about making mechanic adjustments to the pitches, the count and the pitchers.
