I've noticed that transfer announcements are starting to come (saw one
from Arizona and one from South Carolina). I had thought that players would wait until the WCWS was done. But, maybe not. I feel good about our pitchers staying but am thinking that some Frosh and Soph non-pitchers may be looking to transfer with just two starters graduating. Is it a good sign that we haven't heard anything yet? Or will most wait until WCWS is over?

Maybe that is a good sign for us. Although I don't know that any non-starter transfers would hurt us at this point. But, there is a log jam if we have especially if we have any strong incoming freshman. Thanks for posting that.
I did see this. "The softball transfer portal officially opens on June 8 after the conclusion of the Women’s College World Series." So, I guess players can declare but they can't be approached by teams.

. . . Hope there's at least on Nora A or Bree C waiting for playing time next year. This time last year if either had entered the portal the reaction might well have "meh, no problem".

MJA's medical retirement puts the '27 roster at 25, which is the limit.
5 losses, 5 incoming freshmen. (CORRECTION: 6 out, 6 in.)
So going forward, 1 transfer in = 1 transfer out.

So 25 (this year's number) - 6 (4 Srs/Warren/MJ) = 19 + 6 incoming freshmen (Bardeen, Eakman, McCoy, Perks, Swedarsky, Trip) = 25
Not that these specifics matter.

Trying to get their names out there, I suppose.
But schools can't officially contact them until June 8th, although some schools (like the Duke example below, push the envelope.

But there are exceptions for graduates and players from teams where there’s been a coaching change.
I guess we will know better beginning on June 8 or shortly thereafter.
