Pretty odd with the Hidlay to NC State mention, saying…
he will "help continue NC State’s dominance in the ACC and nationwide amid Virginia Tech’s rise"— NC State is dominating the ACC?? ** Edited by TomA at 5/10/2026, 2:08:51 PM

I think you could fairly argue we've both been dominant teams
For the past decade plus. I can't care enough to feel slighted here.

yeah, I think that's my point…

Reality is NC State had been dominant over the last decade
looking at ACC Tournament championships.

They've been the team to beat at ACCs
But factoring in duals and NCAA performance, I don't think either of us has been dominant over the other. We've both been dominant over the rest of the conference though, with Stanford obviously emerging as a third top team.

What's more important, winning the ACC tourney or placing higher in the
NCAA tourney? When they win the ACC, we place higher in the NCAA, and vice versa.

We have discussed this a lot on here, but generally....
Ideally you do both. But if your line-up is a little unbalanced (some great ones, but not solid across all weights), you can have a scenario where your team will fair better in a larger field tournament like the NCAA due to more matches and larger placement points. Thus what happened for several years when comparing NCSt and VT. However, given the choice between the two...with some caveats performing better at NCAAs is probably more widely regarded than ACCT placement. This is because it is a national viewed tournament, not regional, and individual AA's and champions are coveted more.

NCAA tournament
I get that the "Hokie" fans are all about winning the ACC championships. However, in the wrestling community; no one cares about the ACC dual or team championship. To each their own!

When we're talking abut 10th vs 11th I'll take ACC's and 11th.
If the difference is a team trophy vs. 6th Nationals matters way more. Also individual performances matter. Do I care that we finish one spot below if we have an individual champ and they don't? probably not

I'd take tenth over an ACC championship. But like you said, very little difference between 10th and 11th. To each their own.

And they did finish one spot ahead of us at the NCAAs this year.
I think it's the first time they finished ahead of us in quite a few years...

The beat us the past 2 years
With us winning the conference both times. I don't care much about 10th vs 11th, I would happily trade the ACC titles for Caleb and Aaron to have won individual titles like Vrob and Trumble did.

Totally agree. Green is a big time hire for our big time program.
