Yeah. Everyone not named White (x2) and Hazelton is planning on staying.

Very good news!

With this statement. We are going to be tough next year

We are? Not until we have some height
I am fully supportive of this team, but as of right now Peterson and Baker are starting in the post. That won't go well.

We have a good core, mainly guards. Baker and Peterson are our 4s......
We need two post players to play the 5, but don't be surprised if Duffy opts for quicker 6-2 / 6-3 PF types vs. 6-5 less versatile pure Center types.

Trusting this portal season is a work in progress,
If summer session started today, I’d be concerned, thank goodness it doesn’t, suspect more news is coming

We need a starting center, and someone that can provide good backup minutes
In the post as well.

And? Everyone has roster spots to fill. We just have significantly less.

We have significant spots to fill. Our roster is essentially 1s, 2s, and 3s
with Baker and Peterson masquerading as 4s/5s. Just because we have 8000 PGs does not mean we don't have signfifcant spots to fill. We need height and backup height...that are not projects. I think the main response is to your statement that we will be "tough next year". I love this this group of girls, but this group without height is not going to be tough. I am assuming we will get some height, even if just solid height... so I reserve true analysis for later. But as currently constructed...Baker and Peterson are starting at the 4 and the 4. That means foul trouble for both ** Edited by VAHokie89 at 4/7/2025, 2:36:35 PM

Just a reminder that we have a couple of talented 6'2", 6'3" freshmen
coming in. No idea what they can do but they will surely spell Carys and Kayl. I know that is not a center, and I agree we need one. However Uconn was playing a lineup yesterday where no one was over 6'0" (per the announcer). So stranger things have happened.

And? Everyone has spots to fill. There i repeated it so it might sink in

And there you go being a jerk
No one was snide to you. Your original post - which I and hokiekid and others responded to was not about other programs having spots to fill. That was not your original point. Your point was that we will be tough...based on Nelson being back. We simply pointd out that we need other positions filled to actually be tough... So yeah, other programs have issues, but your original post did not say other teams had issues. But the back and forth showed how it was not worth trying to engage you in a real conversation

And there you go being a know it all without knowing anything
My comment was not to the post that Nelson was returning. Learn to read a thread My comment was about everyone coming back except Lani, Ramiya, and Myah. With our youth, having less talent spots to fill than other teams is going to make us a tough team to beat next year. Less gelling time and more growing time. We are literally returning 4 players that started games last year. As far as mentioning other teams having issues. That is implied since 30 percent of the womens college players are either out of eligibility or in the portal. But i am sure you knew that since you know so much. right?

VAHokie89
I know your comment was about everyone coming back
And i do know things... . My - and other people's responses - purely addressed the idea that the team would be tough out as currently constructed. We disagreed and we gave reasons. You got snide. but whatever.

ROFL. Some serious revisionist history going on here.
Literally your sentence from your post. 'Your point was that we will be tough...based on Nelson being back'

I just meant, who we get at center will likely determine how good this team
Is.

I just think NIL personally puts us in a bad position to get the
higher prospects. We don't have the money like other conferences and schools have to my knowledge. If they are good enough they are going to be looking for that NIL deal. I honestly hate NIL and what it has done to college sports.

I hate to put it this way,but we're going to get the players we can afford
V

Yes. unless we are willing and have the resources to throw the bank
at people. People assume that "women sports are more about playing for the love of the game" and not money, but we will quickly find out that money will talk.

agree,a strong athletic center would be a great addition
