Micheaux is a big time addition.
Way to go Coach Brooks.

thoughts are that her statistics from the Big 10 last year are extremely solid, and her highlight clips show me a polished, tough post player, which we need. And she made all B10 HM, which is a pretty good feat.

We need a post presence to help out next to Kitley and she’s one of the higher rated forwards in the portal.

I want to see Assists. Her stats show less than one Assist per game. That concerns me

I see Micheaux as more of a D’Asia Gregg bench role and a way to spell Kitley more and also allow Kitley to try and stretch outside. We have heard Kenny Brooks state he wants to get Kitley outside and work on her long range shooting.
So going for a Soule replacement isn’t necessarily what we’re seeing here.
Wenzel is going to replace Traylor’s production.
Amoore, Kitley and King are back.
Micheaux is a potential 6th player, backup to Kitley.
I would wait for the next Portal addition to see who might replace Soule’s production. Midlo has said we are getting someone from a familiar place and also that it’s another cold climate. So that leaves Taina Mair from BC or Teisha Hyman from Syracuse, both Guards.
Mair averaged 6.6 assists last year and made All ACC freshman team while Hyman has averaged between 3-4 assists per game the last two campaigns. Both are just under 30% from 3 and in an offense where they’d only need to be the 4th best shooter from range might see that percentage increase in VT’s system.

I doubt she is coming her to be the 6th player. She is much better than that.

Kitley protege on the team. Can’t have a player who doesn’t pass

And if you weren’t calling her selfish you’re, what, calling her incapable of passing? How do you know that?
If neither of those is true, it must then be the case that she wasn’t coached well or didn’t play in a system that required her to pass the ball as much or didn’t have enough offensive threats on her team to generate higher assist numbers. Or….maybe she was the best offensive option in the team and they tried to get her the ball so she could score?
Oh wait, Minnesota’s coach resigned after a 4-15 B1G record and Micheaux had the highest FG% by far on that team….
Maybe just best to reserve judgment on her passing incapability until she’s on the floor for the Hokies next year. She looks like a really good player. I watched a video where she scored like 30 pts in a game vs PSU. Most of the times she scored nobody was near her and she was kind of alone in the post. Think it’s more a product of her system. Maybe why she’s here…

2-year record averaging less than 1 Assist per game. That’s a fact not necessarily a criticism. I don’t think Kenny’s system is based on having a “black hole “ balls going in and never coming out. Can’t have a player playing from the I Formation… “I’ve got the ball and I’m going to shoot it “. Maybe her team was so bad that she was told to always take the shot. And I am sure that Kenny is aware of that stat. But as a casual fan that stat concerns me. If that jangles your sensibilities, that’s on you

You made the statement about not passing the ball based off an assist statistic. Which meant you arrived at your conclusion with whatever factors you deemed necessary to you. So it is one of the 4.
1) Either you felt she is unwilling to pass.
2) Or you feel she is unable to pass well.
3) You feel the system at Minnesota and her coaching led to that statistic. (This is my opinion)
4) Or, if those 3 don’t fit, then that must mean you are unconvinced of Kenny Brooks’ ability to properly vet portal players. Since you so eloquently put that his system doesn’t cater to “black hole” balls getting sucked into a ball hog. Yet he brings a player in and you’re concerned that player will not fit his system.
There’s very few other factors to base that opinion on. So which is it for you? 1, 2, 3 or 4?
