And vs USA in regionals
I watch Briski & Jordy and I see top 3 pitchers in the country due to their consistency & their stuff
I watch Mazz all year and on her good control days I see all the same arm talent maybe more
One thing I didn’t see in Baton Rouge were 2 strike pitches being called strike 3 in the locations Briski has strike 3s called.
Wonder why that is @VTChip @laphroaig ?
Weird how the location of the game and brand on the jersey changes the strike zone isn’t it?

She earned those by not throwing 2 balls off the plate when she was ahead. She challenged the umpire as well as the batters all night. You didn't see the 'Bama catcher setting up behind the off-side batters box.

Is she in 2-0 or 1-2 counts. Rarely did she have 1-0 or 2-0

and humans can get caught up in the moment of the game. They can get caught up in the celebrity of the pitcher or the batter. Batters like Ted Williams get the benefit of the doubt, pitchers like Nolan Ryan get the benefit of the doubt and yes there are more recent examples today in MLB and there are those players in softball today who get the benefit of the doubt.
If I'm behind the plate with a pitcher like Tincher it's a moment of pride for me, same if I'm behind the plate with McMillan or Peck up to bat. If Chatfield takes pitch, it probably was a ball, she's that good an eye around the plate.
Umps shouldn't be giving the benefit of the doubt or having pride in the moment - not supposed to be human - but we are. So it's not weird - that stuff you're talking about happens even in MLB and it has forever.

. . . league play over four year. What emerged with some was a non-spoken agreement about borderline K's. It was 'you throw it CONSISTENTLY there and I'm giving it to you'. Very important for someone who kept it at the knees 75% of the time.

strike zone was 2x the size of ours in BR. So, I think you would just credit her success to her oversized strike zone.

She’s obviously great as she’s SEC pitcher of the year. She’s also going to keep pushing the boundaries of how far out of the zone she’s going to be given strikes
It doesn’t hurt that she’s Alabama’s star…she gets more calls…but she also can hit pinpoint locations just nicking the plate or just off the plate that can umpire gives her
