After experiencing Palmer Park in Charlottesville this past Saturday and
researching Liberty Softball Stadium to see that game this week, I'm convinced Pete D'Amour is the best recruiter on the planet for any sport. Period! Mic Drop! Those two places are the softball equivalents of cathedrals compared to TSP.

I'll leave this one here like I did below for UVA. Posted 3 Years Ago. LU
built there cathedral for "only" $9M at the time and in FOUR months!!! TSP would be the best 10-20M investment for VT Athletics as far as facilities goes.

Yes. And someone (or group) @ VT better wake up and fix that or we . . .
. . . will eventually be looking for a new coach. He can't be expected to swim upstream forever.

Have an idea. Knock down TSP. Let the ladies play in English Field. If
there’s a scheduling conflict the baseball team can play in Salem on those days, until the University can pony up the $$$ to provide a venue Coach and the team deserve. In the meantime, the money charged for conference games, since English Field will allow for that, can go toward the new TSP coffers.

Lol. Should they cut out 60 ft basepaths from the 90 ft ones, and
also remove and replace the pitcher's mound after each baseball game?

I was speaking to some UVA fans on Sunday waiting to get in
In their opinion, Palmer Park has made a tremendous impact on UVA softball, both on the field and also in fan interest. It is a beautiful facility.

I'll just leave this here. I posted this in 2023. 3 YEARS AGO! The VT AD
needs to GO!!!! He's a lame duck. Good riddance. Just some, any, just a LITTLE TINY bit of vision from the AD, Ath Dept, and Administration would go a LONG way.

Babs has definitely overstayed his welcome. Happy day when he is gone.

Whit certainly bears...,..
some responsibility. However, VT(and whoever that may entail) bears responsibility for failing to provide oversight and/or active management in terms of accountability and responsibility. The situation was allowed to fester in to what it has become and that is on VT, IMO.

Yeah, the softball field issue is just one of those issues.

Not sure I understand the slanted roof above the dugouts.
It felt like a lot of wasted space. Wasn’t sure if that was done for future possible expansion. Looked like they could put a few rows of seats down each line. But otherwise looked like a roomy concourse. Great crowds. But noticed tons of Hokies.

Supposedly, the stadium was built so they can add extra bleachers as needed
They will also be bringing in extra bleachers for the ACC tournament.

That is correct. Spoke with a BOV guy and he wanted to put them in
but he was voted down as they tried to build the program so they prepped the area for future expansion.

And they're lumped in the Olympic Sports board.
