Knee Surgery Postponed - Looks like you folks won't get a break from me
What a frustrating Monday!
My knee replacement surgery was scheduled for next Monday, but I get a call yesterday from the doctors office telling me that the anesthesiologist is uncomfortable doing the surgery at their outpatient surgery center as planned because of a cardiological issue I had18 years ago. This is in spite of my cardiologist signing off that I was low risk and I would be fine. They are insisting on doing the surgery at the hospital and the first opening there is not until July. 😡
Of course, I’ve already canceled our scheduled California trip this week in anticipation of the surgery. So very, very frustrated at the moment.
The only hint of a silver lining is that we probably will be able to go to Boston for the ACC Tournament in two weeks.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts. Save them for three months!

I had major back surgery 5 weeks ago (like you, waited 3 months to get a slot). The anesthesiologist is the most important guy in the room . . . your life is literally in his/her hands. You want them to be VERY comfortable so you can be VERY confident when the nurse anesthetist says 'you're going to feel a little drowsy now'. Take the delay as insurance that they are looking out for you. I've seen too many 'surgery center' issues. Take all the time in the REAL hospital they'll give you.

the team! You are the voice of the Lady Hokies Softball Team! Your stories and participation in all things softball is needed. Thank you for everything you do to promote our ladies! Additionally, thank you for taking the time to do all the things you do for Arthur and his family and providing special moments for Arthur which we are so blessed to have cheering on the ladies! There is so much to be thankful for with this team and community. We must keep full steam toward the prize of promoting VT softball and helping to provide the top notch facilities and equipment they need. The auction is cool and has stuff better thought out than the Hokie Way auction. Keep up the efforts and godspeed for your surgery in July. controlled environment with more resources if they need them. Not a bad thing. Your health is foremost. We need you around, listen to the Docs. Hopefully, your Medicare and insurance have it covered.

I found out 5 years ago I had a tumor (cancer) on my heart while covid was going on and have had 12 or so procedures, some related to my heart and a few unrelated (neck / back / ankle) and every single one seems to have a different set of hoops to jump through: blood work, EKG, outpatient / hospital. I coded on the operating table once (allergic reaction to anesthesia / anitbiotics) so I appreciate the risk mitigation
