How's this for timing...
Exactly five years ago, I wrote a Regional preview story for TSL about the Hokies going to the Kentucky Regional, their first NCAA bid in four years. I think it was one of the first times I wrote a story that had a byline - most of my stuff had just been message board posts up to then. @Will Stewart, thank you for the opportunity way back when.

You’ve been such a blessing for VT softball. Your work has elevated fan
Engagement to a high level for a very talented and fun group to watch. Now help those girls get back closer to home to play Supers so Arthur can see them play again!!!

For sure. Said it before and will say it again. Between his articles and
Posts we fell like we know these teams and players so much better. Chip is a huge reason we now follow Hokie softball.

Look how far you have come!
Five years ago, you did all of your work for TSL pro bono and weren't entitled to use of the TSL corporate jet. Now...well, uh, never mind! Hah, in all seriousness Chip, I echo what RJHokie said - the time and energy you put into your work and the passion you have for VT softball is so much appreciated by the ordinary fan like me. You give all of us a much deeper dive into Hokie softball, both what they do on and off the field. No doubt you have played a large role in the rise in notoriety of VT softball. I think I speak for all of us fans when I say a big THANK YOU!!!!

Funny story of how things sometimes work
I had made the trip to Lexington by myself and was driving back late Sunday night after the Hokies had been eliminated. I was really getting tired and was considering stopping for the night. But somewhere around Radford, I got a text from Coach Pete thanking me for going to Lexington and for my support." I floated the rest of the way home. I don't even remember giving him my number. but it made a real impression on me that he would take the time to say "thank you." Little did he know he was creating a monster!

And you’ve done a great job with the reviews!
They are very informative and provide details that a lot of us probably didn’t know existed in a public forum and presented it in summary form along with excellent commentary!
