double instead of single elimination in your opening paragraph? Conference tourneys in every sport have become little more than additional revenue generators with the expansion of national championship tourney fields. I think most coaches view them as a little more than a tune up opportunity to get through without using too much energy or getting injured. They are also a last chance for teams not in to steal an autobid.
