VT was already a lock for the NCAA tournament. A loss to GT doesn't change that at all - since the NCAA doesn't seed #17-32 it really, really doesn't matter. VT had to win the semifinal game to be considered for a host spot. So, there's a valid argument for saving Lemley IF (and a BIG IF) that what was what he was doing. HOWEVER, Coach Pete said in the postgame interview that the staff felt Grein was the better matchup against the GT hitters so that's why she started. I don't think the starting pitcher made a difference to the VT hitters. Both Lyndsey and Emma have won 12 games this season. The bats were just cold.
