The 2026 ACC Football Championship Game will kickoff at Noon Saturday
The ACC Championship Game used to be in prime time on Saturday, but the ratings were pretty bad because it had to compete with the B10 CG. ESPN would want to maximize viewership, so moving the ACC CG makes sense for them. Interestingly, the Big 12 CG is moving to Friday night from Saturday noon, and the ACC is taking the noon time slot. So the lineup will be. Friday night: B12 on ABC Saturday noon: ACC on ABC Saturday afternoon: SEC on ABC Saturday primietime: BIG on FOX

Makes sense. I thought they should either move to noon or Friday.
That Saturday primetime slot was a disaster.

About time ACC and networks raised the white flag on ACCCG
and accepted reality of its place in the pecking order

It’s impossible to catch up with the P2 and close the gap.
At some point, Phillips stopped talking about the “gap.” And that’s actually a right call. Due to structural difference (football brands, alumni base, fan interest, etc.), closing the gap is just an impossible goal. Instead, the ACC should focus on staying at #3.

Yep, and every single school would be wise to do everything in their
power to be attractive to the P2.

All of the Conferences need to stop. Bama getting blown out & not mattering
should be embarrassing, but politicians have a very high threshold on getting embarrassed. :-) PS Start the season a week earlier and let every school play to replace them. If structured right, there should be way more money than 10 Conference Championship games.

"Bama blown out,,," Please, it was only five touchdowns.
There are some who may call that a "blow out," but Tide fans can smile knowing in our hearts that it was all just a bad dream.

Well yeah im for eliminating them all together
But if they are gonna play them, its past time the networks and the ACC be realistic. Even their best possible matchup is gonna lose a ratings war to almost any B1G match up.

When the new RFK Stadium is built, the ACC should play the CG in DC.
It's supposed to have a roof. Plus, it looks pretty cool. Supposed to be done in 2030.

That would be great if we even had a championship game or an ACC.

Would love that, but with ACC HQ in Charlotte, I doubt we will ever see it.
Location wise it would pretty much be in the center of most of the schools in the Conference, but I unfortunately will believe it when I see it.

The ACC/Charlotte champ game deal is only through 2030
Which I believe is when the new DC stadium opens

Can the ACC do something cool in football? Just once.
Big ask. I know.
VTHokie2000 VTHokie2000

ACC's definition of "cool" would be to play 2 football games simultaneously
on 2 fields that crisscross each other at midfield.

two games, one cup

And those teams playing would be Duke, Wake, Stanford and BC

Then the ACC wonders why fans of both games are booing b/c both defenses
simultaneously recover a fumble from the other game near midfield.

however, more to the state of NC and championships
When ACC was looking for new host city for conference, State of NC gave 8 million to ACC to pay for relocation of headquarters to Charlotte from Greensboro. WIth that was guarantee of hosting numerous ACC championships football basketball other sports. Other site considered was DC area, but that got squashed by the NC insiders. I agree; ACC has not leveraged the market share of VT and UVA in the DMV area. (VT alumni in DVM gets very close to Maryland.

Good to know, but still hard to believe it will ever leave Charlotte,

How is SMU enjoying the ACC?
Was it a good decision?

Well, the alternative was making $7M/year in the AAC playing Tulsa and Rice
But yes, it's been great for us. Average attendance was over capacity in football this year -- if you'd told me that ten years ago I would've referred you to a psych ward Also, love the road trips. Went to Cameron for the first time ever a few weeks ago. Just booked Tallahasse for the Labor Day game. Hope some of you make it down for the VT game in November. Visiting fans love the Boulevard for tailgate (it's like the Grove at Ole Miss) and hopefully it will be a game with ACCCG implications for both teams.
