Said below wouldn’t surprise me Jim “Dame” Phillips informed ND, they did!
Yep I mean while it was happening, and not after it was happening.
You know, one of those accidentally on purpose things. 🤣

...they don't have an actual beef with the ACC. I see they want to grab even more money, so they make up a fake beef, while trashing the ACC in the process in a poor attempt to reduce their buyout. But what needs to happen is for the ACC to apply massive punitive damages for their petulant child-like behavior.

B12 are no different than fans in the ACC in that they do not have an effect on policy, but just an opinion on the process.
It's easy to live in a bubble where everyone agrees. It's a bit more challenging and entertaining to engage those that disagree with you.
The vitriol against FSU when they sued to get out, then Clemson, and now a tiff with ND after reports of UNC looking around is a pretty tough place for the conference to be in, and rather than trying to fix things (kiss and make up), many fans want to pour gasoline on the smoke.
The ACC is in a much better position with FSU. Clemson, and ND, yet everyone seems to want to kick them out.

If Bevacqua wants to apologize for being an egregious jerk and instigating his program’s rather large fan base to be egregious jerks, fine.
Otherwise, it really doesn’t matter how programs or their fans feel about one another or the ACC. We are in an every man for himself era. The ACC will cease to exist as we know it in five to eight years. If Notre Dame wants out, so be it. Unless Notre Dame is ready for membership in the Big Ten or SEC - and most think it isn’t - Notre Dame athletics will suffer as much or more than the ACC.
The ACC does not need Notre Dame basketball or baseball or lacrosse or soccer. The ACC has plenty of that, usually at a higher quality, among its other members. The ACC does not need two or three Notre Dame football games per year. For most ACC schools, that means no more than one more visit from the Irish before the ACC is over. We are all too busy playing games against the Stanfords and Cals that Notre Dame played a large part in foisting upon us, or SMU that was brought in for a quick money grab, or the products of past mistakes like Syracuse and Boston College, or long time members like Wake Forest that are in over their head, or other members who haven’t been able to get out of their own way for too long, like Florida State and UNC and NC State and, honestly, Virginia Tech.
I think I speak for most Virginia Tech fans in saying the ACC is not what we thought we we were joining in 2003. And it is no better and arguably worse than the particular iteration of the Big East we left.
Blow it all up. Blow it all up this afternoon. If Notre Dame or UNC or anyone else wants to pull the pin, I am here to watch. Smoke’em while you got’em. I have no idea what the future holds for Virginia Tech. I just know it won’t be any worse than the mess that is the current ACC. So let’s just get on with it.

VT was still paying off the Big East entrance fee when it joined the ACC. Also, the Big East, where VT was the only school to vote against kicking out a member (Temple). How long did it take for them to add VT as a full member after twisting in the wind of the A10, 8 years? Thanks to Beamer and Vick for the Big East giving any measure of respect to VT. Otherwise, the conference wanted nothing to do with VT.

when it did is because JW leveraged the possibility of leaving the Big East Football Conference for the SEC into recommitting to the BEFC in exchange for reduced full membership in the Big East. All of this went down around '97 or '98 when I was a full time student at VT.

I can’t speak to Virginia Tech’s experience in the Southern Conference, which is before my time.
But Tech’s history with the Metro, Big East and ACC includes a lot of pitfalls.
Oddly enough, the conference that treated Tech best during my time might be the Atlantic 10. Tech was a fish out of water, for sure. We had nothing in common with any of those schools. But I don’t remember any instance in which Tech was explicitly or implicitly insulted by other members or obviously given the shaft on any particular issue.

know exactly what they are doing. I don’t agree with @goldendomer on the ND ACC victim angle on this, but they are likely laying the groundwork for trying to get out of the exit fees. They are smart enough to know Alabama who got blown out by 4-8 FSU and the night before in the Champ game when they selected teams the next day, with 3 loses and 5th place in SEC took their bid. However, their AD praises the SEC and Alabama. If you are buying that, I got a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. 🙄

Makes me chuckle, you probably don’t have above the high school education. I rarely edit.
The the judgment of fools and the like, don’t really concern me. I use proper grammar and all the other crap while managing the businessesI own.
I actually edited to put this. When I used to care about this board I would care more about my post. but that died and I went lazy because the way this board turned. Oh well

Always found your posts informative and entertaining. Seriously, what did you think the ACC was going to do? It is Phillips' job to try to get Miami in the CFP ahead of...really anybody. In the end, the easiest and most effective way to do that was drive home the head to head result with ND.
Is the committee chicken**** in how it does it's business? Yes. Did you hear all of the "eyeball test" discussions in the weeks leading up to selection day? What a joke! But if that's how it operates, then that's how you play the game; you point out the obvious.
I understand and respect that ND values its football independence above all else, at least athletically. But there is a price to pay for that; no one else is going to be your advocate. It would be a simple matter for ND to put together it's own conference and pretty much dictate how it operates. But you have to be willing to be an equal partner with someone...in football. I don't think ND will go there and if I'm correct, then being left out of a tournament you probably weren't going to win wasn't that big of a deal.

You lost to Miami and in every other metric were virtually tied. If it was about the playoff you would be attacking the SEC 5th team that got blown out the day before. It’s not, it’s about making a case to not pay the exit fees.
If you want out, pay the exit fees and show a shred of integrity instead of this idiotic dance with the truth. Notre Dame should be better than that, and you know it, the world knows it. Stop trying to sell this bogus story to not pay exit fees, nobody beyond the ND echo chamber is that dumb, ND isn’t either, so stop digging a deeper embarrassing hole!!!
