Against ACC until December 23rd 2023, but claim date that should be deemed date of notice to acc that they are leaving is August 14, 2023 crazy BS. I think that is date fsu first privately asked for plan to leave by Aug 2024.
Laughable. This week fsu AD told media he and fsu president had never said they were leaving acc and had not given notice.
Required notice in ACC by-laws is One Year. Best fsu could hope court recognizing as date of notice is date of lawsuit imho, which would mean they can't officially leave until December 23, 2024. This means ACC will not drop below 15 before SMU joins on July 1, 2024 and Stanford and Cal join August 24, 2023.
FSU can try and leave as of 12/22/2024, whether court will accept that as meeting by-law requirements? Who knows, without Required notice, I'd imagine they open themselves up to major damage suits by acc and remaining members. Given statement by AD this week, court might not recognize any date prior to May 15, 2024 lol!
Bottomline, I think both Clemson and FSU will be members and litigation between both and ACC still unresolved when espn has to renew through 2036 in Feb. 2025. What happens then
I do not know? I am not even sure what this look-in allows espn to do? Can they actually dump entire contract or just renegotiate/adjust Financials? If they can just end K with ACC beyond 2027, then I guess they can cause conference to collapse. Will they? Can they without serious risk of being sued for damages by most of acc and losing?
The merit based distribution ACC has already agreed to would allow Clemson or FSU to make an additional 25 mil annually. So let's say B10 distributes 80 mil per school in 2024 + 21mil pers school in playoff revenue total 101mil. Let's say ACC distributes 50mil and FSU/Clemson max out at 25mil on playoff payout. This puts gap at 26mil. not great but not the 40-50mil gap that has been media narrative. I could envision a scenario where espn adds $$ to pot when they renew in February 2025 to ensure ACC can keep league together and ACC adds these $$ to the payoff $$ merit based pot. Can this get top ACC schools to within 10mil or less a year of B10/SEC payouts?
I feel like Clemson and FSU and ACC are in a dragway game of chicken who pulls off before head on crash?

I am all for anything that weakens the partnerships of FOX/B1G or ESPN/SEC. I will even give the Big 12 a pass, as much as I believe documents might provide an interesting peek into their role in the takedown of the PAC 12. I would get enjoyment watching Sankey squirm like a caught fish on a dock.

you mention, not just FSU/Clemson/UNC. Fox and ESPN are just the biggest money grubbers of all, since it's their money (or perceived money) driving this juggernaut. Other than the long threads here on TSL, which are driven by the same posters with alleged "inside info," NO ONE knows what's gonna happen. Fox and ESPN are trying to monopolize the market for their own self-interests, and are trying to preselect the winners and losers. Bettina Altizer, Esq is right. Other than VT, I could give a rat's ass about other schools, and I'm quickly losing interest in VT. All the parties involved are trying to create a frenzy to obscure people from knowing what's going on. This frenzy is also driving fund raising (including VT), and causing people do donate foolishly by thinking their money/donations will make a difference, which it will not. If VT is in the P2, fine. If VT is not in the P2, fine.

FSU has nowhere to go right now.
While the B1G is underhanded as hell, they are also very precautious. They went overboard to make it look like they weren't the ones to blow up the Pac-12. And that was even after the Pac-12's TV contract was up. So while I'm sure they told FSU that they would love to have them, I doubt the B1G is just simply going to take FSU simply based on FSU "speaking it into existence." They are going to need more than that: a court ruling, a settlement, or an ACC vote to dissolve the conference. So, to me, this is why FSU hasn't announced they are leaving. I hear a lot of FSU and BigXII homers saying that "they're gone" and "they will announce shortly that they are leaving," but it hasn't happened yet. And some of these people are already backtracking.
Moreover, while FSU and other ACC schools (perhaps even VT) are not happy with the current contract, it is still a contract. And neither the B1G nor the SEC really want to be part of a precedent to blow up conference contracts, because contracts, albeit better ones, hold the B1G and the SEC together as well.

Informal conversations by “representatives” that hammer everything out. Its how it’s done so covert. The days of the Big10 saying we are looking for a new member so we can get to 12 and have a conference championship are over. FSU and Clemson know exactly where they are headed. I’m sure Miami, UNC, NCST, UVa and VT know exactly what their options are. They all have had conversations with the Big10, SEC and Big12. They know exactly where they stand.

Your ego is rarely your friend. This is all about them being butt hurt over the playoff snub.
I think they really thought the SEC or B1G would be falling over themselves to pull them in, and maybe someone from those conferences told them that, but it was the head cheese, I promise you that.

they will/can not talk about future conference affiliation unless the 2036 GOR date is resolved. What if, and I'm not saying it's a fact, FSU pulls a SDSU, and give notice before they actually have an invite? I haven't read anywhere that the Big 10, or the SEC presidents have voted on adding new teams.
I think we all agree that FSU will find a landing spot no matter how this shakes out, but it's entirely possible that FSU will not have a landing spot until some point in the future, and not be included with the current Big or SEC contracts.
The playoff look in could be a factor as well, but I don't think there will be any other moves until the current NCAA lawsuits are settled/finalized - and those decisions could change the metric on a dime, and leave FSU on an island.

That's kind of my point. If FSU pulls an SDSU it would be very dumb.
Lots of irrational FSU people and self-appointed conference realignment experts out there saying FSU will be announcing soon so they can be in the B1G by the following season.
The situation reminds me of Operation Frequent Wind during the fall of Saigon. All the out going planes and helicopters needed a place to land. They eventually got it when the Navy started dumping aircraft off the flight deck into the harbor.
But as of now, the runway is not clear. And it's not going to be clear without one of the scenarios I mentioned.

Or join another G5 league. Maybe they desire paying a huge exit fee so they are free to travel to Arizona/Provo for games in the Big XII for less money. This would at least make UCF a partner. All while living in the glory that they showed the ACC who is boss. LOL
If that's the case, FSU/Clemson have to be the dumbest business decision makers in the history of sports.
Next week is quite possibly the biggest decision in the history of college sports. Revenue Sharing, NCAA settlements...once that axe falls you will see teams everywhere trying to work through a financial shock and awe campaign. The three M's - money matters most.

that is a great line and with your permission I may borrow sometime. I think we all realize the accuracy of that line, even to the point that Money may be the only thing that matters. That sentiment got kick started in the early 80s with the CFA suit and has only become more all encompassing in the subsequent years. The only reason things are not even more screwed up at present is the clowns have not yet figured a way to slay the golden goose, March Madness, for their own individual benefit but, rest assured they will eventually.
