This is driven by what Fox & ESPN want to pay for, not the Conferences!!!!!
Don’t bang on the Conferences, the ACC would take anybody that ESPN is willing to pay for!!! Also ESPN pays for the schools that will get them a return on investment, so don’t get mad at them either. You want the same thing for your 401k, that doesn’t make you a bad guy either. ** Edited by Stech at 8/4/2023, 7:31:46 PM

Yes, the ACC is it's own problem though
and not because it wouldn't expand, but because it wasn't going to attract anyone worth expanding with because it puts a terrible product on the field in football and a mediocre product on the field in men's basketball. Woo hoo, we have great baseball and softball and women's basketball....all of which cost money, not make money. The biggest problems are Miami, FSU and us. They have to be good/relevant, we need to be (along with at least a couple of GT/UNC/NCState for the conference to be credible. But every team I just listed has for the most part sucked for more than 5 of the last 8 years. For god sake, Pitt and Wake were in the conf championship game a year ago, why would anyone watch that crap. The biggest thing the ACC can do now is become relevant. Get some coaches that matter, not a bunch of no name, don't say the wrong thing, polite guys. We need a couple Lane Kiffin types who run their mouth and create press. Then put a decent product on the field (FSU, shut up and win a game once in a while). Kick ND around when real conference teams play them. Make people want to watch. Do that and ratings go up, revenue goes up and we quit being this bunch of whiny cry babies posting on message boards about how ESPN is not being fair to us because they like the SEC more. OF COURSE THEY DO, THE SEC MAKES THEM MORE F'N MONEY!!!!!! The SEC is exciting, is interesting, is better football, and not because ESPN pays them more (they've been all those things since long before ESPN paid them more), ESPN pays them more because they make ESPN more.

Right Lane Kiffen has been kicked out of how many college teams?
Not sure he’s the fix for ACC…and for the record…ESPN does suck.

I think the point is to have personalities to help sell
seems every month or so one SEC coach is talking trash or throwing shade to another through twitter or press conferences What makes Colorado relevant right now? Certainly not the product but their coach. People want to see what he says next and other coaches are referring to him. How many days go by before you hear another Deion quote or some coach talking about him When the season starts, people will be watching them. They are like a mini version of old-school. People will watch in hopes he succeeds and people will watch in hopes he fails. The point is people will watch.

I said Kiffin like, but it's not about if he stays long..
it's about creating interest. The ACC is boring as hell. It's OK to have a gentleman like Frank or 2, but a whole conference of stuffed polo's who never say anything controversial, this is entertainment, sometimes you need entertainers.
