If I recall correctly, every time a major P5 program changed conferences it was always first discovered through a press release. Everyone was blindsided. I don't believe there were any rumors on social media before a press release announcing the following:
1) USC and UCLA to Big 10
2) UMD to Big 10
3) Texas and Oklahoma to SEC
Am I wrong about this?

Did the Pac12 Network’s go-to-market strategy kill them?
I remember it not being on DirecTV for example and this was pre cord cutter

but this Big 12 interest in the Pac 12 has been out in the open for awhile.

They want to spook teams from the PAC to leave. I think these 'leaks' are just spin from the B12.
Hopefully, P10 teams are smart enough to wait until for sure where they stand. The B12 will take them in a year, too. Certainly Colorado will have a home in the B12.
Maybe they know their TV deal will suck already, but no one else knows that, yet. I would expect the details of that to leak credibly before the next defection.

Seems like they're preparing the fanbase for the move since it's not a slam dunk decision
