Kansas didn't fit the old SEC. They fit in fine now.

Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, and Texas A&M are all natural fits with them.

AAU Candidacy

Virginia Tech is the only school that's top 55 in US News and top 301 in ARWU to not be an AAU member. Getting AAU membership would certainly help in conference realignment.

In that case, it's time to jettison baggage

You've got to ditch the Wake Forest, BC, etc types for big state schools. Money will be too scarce to have three middle conferences. One must emerge to keep revenues decent.
