In Mr. K's worst case the cost goes from $8.1 million to $23 million.
That's a jump of $15 million, not chicken feed, but well within the bounds of their new payout. I say, "no harm done." Travel time will be another issue to address, and if it becomes a clear problem for the athletes, there are moves the Athletic Dept can make to soften the stress. The academic side may push back on some of these, but solutions are possible. Establish more Zoom classes and give athletes priority access. Bring the tutors along for the road trip (pay them more). Schedule some electives, popular among athletes on days of the week that mesh with their regular game schedules. Purists, traditionalist aint gonna like it. But it will come about if it answers some needs for the athletes.

or give them the option of being non-student football players
why continue to force a farce/sham on universities and athletes who have no interest or aptitude for the academic side? No one is fooled anymore by the mythical ideal of college athletics.

Watched until my ears burned. The guys on 365 sports keep talking about
FB travel costs, while the PAC12 commish is referring to travel costs for all sports. Wouldn't surprise me at all if the P12 commish is somewhat right about all of this.

Not only cost, but travel time.
Takes all day to travel cross country. And going east add 3 hours. Looks good on paper, but... it's the kids that have to spend that lost time travelling.

The Pac-12's best weapon is to NOT schedule any California B1X school...
...in any sport. I guess they can fill their OOC with MWC teams...

I'm not sure that "weapon" will wound the party you think it will.

There are only two schools so far, so not much of an impact
