The dumbest part about all of this is that Vandy, Miss St., Rutgers, Minn.
etc. get a pass in all of this because they are already part of the SEC/BIG. There are WAY better options in the other P5 conferences that could get left out in the cold. Makes absolutely no sense...

point is whether the next major decision made by them will just impact football or all sports. If it impacts all sports, then they will need to put a plan in place to make sure those interests are protected too. It could even mean adding schools like Duke, Kansas, or UVA, who happen to be good in a few non-revenue sports and not football, because the conference wants to make sure it has enough participating schools in those sports for content purposes. Now I don't think any of those will be made until after Notre Dame is off the board.

the only football game in town in the most populous state per capita is all they bring (includes stations based in NYC too), and that was enough for the Big Ten network $$$.

pass. At least Vandy deserves the loyalty benefit for being in the SEC for a LONG time. Rutgers is only a member of the Big 10 because the ACC (nor anybody else) didn't want them when we expanded and they are "near" New York. Kind of ridiculous.

Even if VT couldn't or didn't want to join when the SEC was founded, there may have been another opportunity when Sewanee decided to leave the conference in 1940 because it reduced the membership from 13 to 12. Heck there may have been opportunities between 1932 to 1940 where someone else could have joined to increase the membership to 14. My point is there is no reason to have a beef with a school, who made a decision a long time ago, just because it ends up being the "right decision." It makes even less sense if VT had similar opportunities around that time and made different decisions for various reasons.
