Buzz's team got sawed apart in the 2nd half...
As an alum of both schools with a dog in the fight, I was always cheering for "Go Blue!", but on the other side there was a "Go Hokies!" pile on as Roddy Gayle, Jr. played the game of his college career!

the first round of the CFP are NOT bowl games, but the 0-2 hurts the ACC
more than the 1-5 conference record thus far in these meaningless bowl games.
In 2024, Clemson and SMU did not go to a bowl game, they officially lost in the first round in the CFP.
If anyone still thinks that bowls other than those coming up that are affiliated with the CFP still matter, then you are deluding yourself.
These programming filler games this weekend and next Friday are meaningless except to the fraction of fanbases who still care, which is shrinking by the year.

if they were acting like that after getting tossed, nothing you had tried
probably would have worked to begin with.
Posts like these make me glad I didn't bother going yesterday to see young fan idiocy like that.
I was better off enjoying my non-marked up beverage at home on a cold day with my State son watching the game peacefully.
Maybe attending the ladies game Thursday night at the Duke foul and slug-fest turned me off a bit too.

Efton Reid (sic) finished with a double double, Quinten Post did not
Just making sure both halves got represented in who got the best of who in "having their way".
Not to mention Wake came back and won on the road in an arena Seth never won in (he mentioned the same on ACC PM yesterday).
Winning road games like that will likely get Wake in the dance this year.
As we suspect from how they've played this season already, they should be very dangerous in the ACC this year.

Once that bunch went bankrupt, thankfully the CW picked them up and now we don't have to find creative ways to stream those games.

note the top 3 are the other NC schools, so no, not picking in order, but
likely according to interest as it pertains to (proximity to) Duke basketball.
No way are they picking UNC #1 and NCSU #2 in the ACC next season.

a sad day for a conference we once celebrated getting into.
I don't see how VT or any other member school could have voted for this with a straight face.
Must be pretty dire to have to do this.
For once, I side with UNC.
Gone are the giddy days of 2004. This is the beginning of the end for this league, sorry to say.

Correct, Lynn Kidd has 2 years left. I think he's going to pleasantly...
surprise a lot of our fans with his offensive game this next year. He had some flashes of being able to be a good scorer and have nearly double digit rebounds early last season games 3-6.
Looking for more consistency and hopefully less prone to foul trouble. I'm hoping for more like 25 minutes this next year if he can accomplish both of those items.

I think many will be pleasantly surprised at what Lynn Kidd is able to do
next season in the paint for VT.
He showed flashes of being able to score in the NCSU game, and was able to pull down rebounds in limited minutes this year.
He worked hard in the off-season and took a big step forward in 2022-23. No reason to think he can't do the same next year, now realizing he'll be relied on even more.
He also needs to cut down on the fouls to keep himself in the games, but I thought the same of Pedulla last year, and he kept himself in games he needed to be as a starter for VT this past season.

Not surprising at all. Joe Girard is going to go where he can START right
away, and both ACC schools fit the bill, especially ND after losing JJ Starling to Syracuse.
In fact, don't be surprised if one of the fall ACC storylines is how ND and Syracuse may have traded starting guards should that be the school he chooses. JG is going to be going some place where he can have an immediate impact as a starter, and ND certainly fits the bill there given their many losses at that position (Cormac Ryan also in the portal).
I highly doubt JG is taking advice from Jimmy B on his next destination given he's going to do what is best for him and his future.
One of those items being best is likely removing his name from the NBA draft (*currently* a possibility in having put his name in) and playing another year in the NCAA.
VT doesn't make sense for who we have returning, much more than any perception JG has about VT/Blacksburg from a former coach of a team he is explicitly leaving, no matter how much "shade" was or wasn't thrown.

attend road games when the team comes to your area for those not nearby
Covered this year, but a good reminder for all who are able to in ACC (OOC?) locations.
The 2023 ACC women's tournament in Greensboro was not a sell out either. Yes, lots of Hokies (included) were present, but there was room for more to watch this special team that has the same promises for next season.
I don't see where the 2024 Women's ACC tournament is, but if it is in Greensboro or Charlotte, lots of Hokies should be able to make it.

Kitley's decision is a great reminder that YOLO, and who wouldn't want to
play another season along one of your best friends who completely understands you, and for a head coach where mutual respect and loyalty are at the center.
The NIL $ certainly helps with the decision, but to have more time with you enjoy doing the most with those around you that make it all the better, who wouldn't sign up for that?
You don't know what you've got until it's gone. Kudos to Liz and the Kitley family for hopefully more great VT memories to come!

you're right, I didn't go back far enough when discussing CJL
As someone else noted, he also took George Mason to the Final Four prior to coaching at Miami. He's been successful at multiple places and has won program firsts at both.
Has his teams had up and down years in the ACC since winning the tournament in his 2nd year? Absolutely
Has he benefited from NIL unlike other ACC coaches who do not wealthy donor(s) in place to do so? Of course, yes. Well documented, especially Nigel Pack's 2 year $800K.
The OP was mentioning top coaches in the league and mentioned CTB and CMY. My point was you have to include CJL in there too, certainly before CMY, given his accomplishments.
There have been so many recent retirements that the current list is pretty short.
Would I put CJL in the same category as CTB who has had sustained success year over year and a championship? No, of course not, and certainly wasn't implying that either, especially given the bar is so currently low

He sure gets my vote!
Gotta give this coach, team, and program some love for what they have accomplished this year!

It was noted here that UConn might struggle in playing outside of the NE
in having all those home crowds that clearly wasn't the case today in Seattle.
Interesting to see how they did in not playing in cities not named Bridgeport or Albany...

I for one will miss Darius Maddox and *sincerely* wish him the best.
Glad to hear his dad is doing better too. He was there for his family during a tough time, and good for him.
Always thankful and appreciative for his SHOT that won the Clemson ACCT game in 2022.
