Posting History (100)

Totally disagree. We are at the stage now where we need a big name..

to rejuvenate the brand. I saw more discussions about VT in Gameday yesterday than I've seen in a long time. Franklin gives us instant relevance again. Bringing in Chesney would be more of the same where noone outside of the VT community has any interest. Franklin brings transfers and eyeballs. Chesney brings neither. Franklin at least gives us a chance to refresh and rebuild our brand. I personally haven't been this excited or optimistic in a long time.

For sure. Franklin is a grand slam hire for VT. I wish he was as "crappy"

here as he was at PSU. Geez Astonishes me some people would rather have a non-P4 coach who has done fine, but continued what Cignetti started, so how much is him anyway? I'd be ok with Chesney as a plan B, but after Pry, I'd rather have a known P4 entity.

So they really just did it because? Why do you have to send a message...

to a team that you are a 15 pt favorite over? I'm sorry, I've never seen a team do this and I've been watching football for nearly 50 years. It is what it is and it's not going to matter a lick, but I still call it bushleague.

First 2 pt conversion question

fortunately I don’t get the acc network so I don’t have to watch this debacle. That being said, did something happen to make gt go for a 2pt conversion on that first td? I hope they weren’t being a-h**les and running up the score on a defenseless team that early. lol. The have to know we have absolutely no chance to win this game.

How about Luke Fickell. He's about to get run out of Wisconsin, BUT...

having seen him win at Cincinnati and the way that program was run, I would take a chance on him. Not sure really what happened at Wisconsin, but he's a really good coach that brings fire and accountability (or at least did at UC).

The emotional investment part is the real shame of the past 6-7 years (or..

more).Back in the day, if Tech was on, I was there and if they lost, my weekend was ruined. When we lost to Temple back in what was it 1998, it felt like the world was coming to an end. Now I'll watch if it's convenient (and even on since I don't get the ACC network), and if it looks bleak (or should I say when), I'll turn it off and go do something else. As you said, I still love Tech and would absolutely be thrilled to get invested again, but it's just so hard getting disappointed every week with no light at the end of tunnel. Sigh.

Certainly was a disappointing year having just won the Peach Bowl, but...

the vibe was totally different. The games were still fun to go (I was a sophomore Frank's first year), and frankly we were still kind of a small fish with not a ton of pressure as the Peach Bowl was a monumental moment (ie, not even a though of winning a championship). Since we tasted it in 1999-2000, expectations are still high in a small part of our brain, which makes this dumpster fire all that much worse. I have to admit that I'm done with Pry. He's had enough time and it's just not getting any better. It's a shame because he seems like a good guy, but that doesn't change the results. We need to be more than being happy with 7-6 (or 6-7).

Had standard and just dropped down to Ad last night. Seems like they...

gave up $10 by trying to get an extra $2 from me. That being said, they probably make it up in Ad revenue. Maybe that is their plan to get people to drop to Ad based where they make more $. Who knows.

Funny thing is that, as a Bengal fan, I thought the exact same thing about

the Skins (yes, I know) last night. I remember what it felt like going to the Super Bowl after years and years of futility where you never thought it would get better. Congrats, enjoy it! As I know, it can be short lived. Sigh

If it levels the playing field, fine. That being said, seems silly to pay

someone potentially a lot of money to play a sport that makes no revenue. Just saying.

So ridiculous. Why would an entity that wants to give NIL money to say the

VT football program specifically in order to boost the performance of the Hokie football team, want to see 90% of that money going to women's swimming or tennis or some other non-revenue sport that doesn't move the needle and bring them joy. My guess is that they don't bother and noone gets anything. I understand that Title IX is intended to provide opportunities for all sports, not just football, but this isn't about opportunity.

Not sure why most money shouldn't go to FB and MBB? Those are the..

biggest revenue sports (with womens BB starting to catch up) and thus should get most of the $. Seems fair to me.

No question about the D. HAVE to improve that next season, even if it means

passing on Tee, which I really don't want to happen. Have to sign Hendrickson and find some run stoppers (too bad they let Reader go). Steelers game should be awesome. Too bad I don't think it matters since still would need the Jets to beat the Dolphins and the KC backups to beat Denver, who looked very good last week against the Bengals. Who Dey!!

What HS do you teach at? My kids all went to Lakota West. Been here for

almost 30 years now. Grew up in Richmond as a Cowboy fan, but now am a diehard Bengals fan and Cincy feels like home.

That would be the ideal way, but obviously the SEC and Big10 would...

have a conniption if only one of their teams got in. Which would serve them right for trying to corner the market on the best teams. But clearly would never be allowed for the same reason. Can you see it now, we're going to let JMU in over Ohio State or Texas. Then again, maybe could be an impetus for splitting up into manageable conferences.

One good thing about living in Cincy, I don't know one person who would...

care and give it to me if UVa beat VT, so fortunately, I don't have to deal with that. That being said, beat UVa!! For me, also being the son of an OSU grad (and hence a fan), I have to worry about Michigan fans. Ugh Go Buckeyes!

Funny thing is that I’m typically an optimistic kind of person.

However tech football has just worn me out. I was extremely optimistic going into this season, and I think that’s part of the problem. I had gotten used to mediocrity had come to terms with it. However the hint of something more got me jacked which led to this disappointment. Ugh

Unfortunately, this year (and the past bunch) have given me much of what...

I need to determine what the future will be. And I started in 1986, so have seen the gamut of Tech football (and athletics in general) from bad to the pinnacle to bad to having hope to again being dashed with cold water right when things looked promising. It's sad, but I can't say I have a ton of hope going forward in being anything but a 0.500 +/- team.

Yeah, I got that. I'm talking about where is the digital ticket like...

every other site that sells digital tickets in your upcoming events. I know now from a prior post that for some reason VT doesn't like to do that.
