Is something going on behind the scenes
1. Eliminating the divisions and questionable match ups of 3 rivals. Also, look at the others: its not play five home then five away then the other group, its broken up so for example after this year we dont see Duke and UNC till 2025, really?????? hmmm and what is this all of a sudden partnership with wake and Pitt????
2. ACC HQ moving ot Charlotte (and looks like state of NC helping out with conditions). Does the conditions, limit options for the members outside of NC.
3. Packer and Durham show being cancelled and reallocation of duties. Hmmm......It is the highest rated show of frankly limited content network, and the other hosts really are very shallow and generic broadcasters. Most of them are not from the area and just spouting ESPN smack crap or that new bland guy from Syracuse who is 24 and knows nothing. I wonder 1) the status of the ACC network and ESPN, are they just restructing it? or 2) are they downsizing content and expenses and moving operations just a studio in Bristol and all hosts are just virtual. (if this so, is this really a network like the SEC or Big 10 or a shell game). (there are impacts to comcast and others, who have precious slots and dont give them to underperforming content providers......
Any one of these are transactional by itself, but all together, gives the impression that the Conference either 1) jumping into a complete new expansion/agressive mode or 2) its regressing and getting defensive and mininimizing expenses and trying to keep the members happy??

To really unthread tis thing, lets say ESPN pulls the ACC network to minimum essential, does the ESPN agreement stays in place or do they force the ACC to walk. If the conference walks the GOR disappears and that is what ESPN wants for the SEC to get their teams (and the Big 10 gets theirs).
I think that is probably why the ACC commissioner isn't looking to well. HE knows he is being played and really can't do anything. Also interesting the muted comments from VT...... Wiith the "ole Miss' rumor that UNC and VT are in talks with the SEC, interesting.... No one knows what's going on.

Doesn't help ACCN that Disney stock has been plummeting.
They have to reorganize and make buget cuts.

Also with the expanded rights for the Big 10, Disney needs to free up cash, They got rid of the Longhorn network, and now for disney lets go through the ACC contract and what we minimally do to comply with the contract and limited cashflow,. ( I expect the studios in charlotte, to be combined with the SEC and ACC gets the back room, or move operations to Bristol (no more studio in the basement gig). More just repeats of old games, cheap rookie broadcasters with no experience.
AND, in the contract, the ACC and ESPN has a opening for readjustment discussion, well I think the Readjustment discussion was one way HELL no ACC members and BTW we got your rights until 2035. NOT GOOD.

anyone else think Jim Phillips did not look too well in the interview with ACCN on The Huddle “ last night?
I think they wanted to get a divisionless schedule out there but I agree that there is more than a little evidence for more going on than meets the eye.

We have been on the same alignment many years, but something really doesn't smell right.
Is the conference 'retreating to NC base, and he knows that FSU Miami GT and Clemson and VT UVA Pitt and 1 more gone??? and he wants to consolidate around the NC 4 schools??? Wouldn't it be funny that The Big 10 takes VT UVA, Pitt and WVU and and the SEC takes their 4 and let the Carolina schools have their ACC with Cuse BC and Louisville. How delightful

But not getting ND in could be final nail. WVU is nice option but how much more cash that produce? I am not sure Uva will go anywhere. They will possibly stick with the all sports concept and be damned football. What VT will do is interesting. I think with Sands we have been talking to someone called the BIG. In many ways we fit that league. Especially, if we have a east coast feeling. VT not going with some ACC friends though could hurt. Money be more but you have to have rivals. We miss WVU dearly whether people admit or not. Ticket sales must. If we go to BIG and Uva with us. It be great. I would love to see State go. GT with us would be huge.
I agree nothing smells right but besides Sands whom at VT would pursue the BIG? Most desire ACC. Something we died for many years. Even I see the scare of leaving the ACC. It is a fit other than football. PERFECT fit. The ACC is in desperate mode. I would love to be fly on wall.

They've said from the beginning they wanted to be a football independent forever. Would have loved them to join the ACC, and my only disappointment is they will eventually join the B1X for all sports (including football).
Would the ACC have better media contracts with ND? Absolutely. Would it be enough to pull even with the B1X and SEC? Highly doubtful. The ACC's main problem is their primary "football" powers all (except CU) decided to tank at the same time. Miami, F$U and VT just haven't been pulling their weight in the conference for at least a half decade. Add in all of the dead weight the ACC is carrying, and you have the real reasons it won't compete with the P2. But the dead weight is why ND wanted to park their non-revenue sports in the ACC, right?
We hope all three will finally rejoin CU to challenge the SEC for football supremacy, but with the big bucks flooding into the mega-2 conferences, the odds of that happening are slim. I think all three will be better, but will they be "playoff caliber" at the same time? Probably not.

Why would anyone have "hoped" ND football would join in the face of these point blank repeated comments by ND?
I think that the Tobacco Road brass thought that they were smarter than ND and could "force" or "checkmate" ND football to join some day once it got its other sports in the conference.
That was never going to happen. ND was clear and upfront always about that.
Basketball is considered a "minor sport" at ND, just like baseball, soccer, lacrosse and hockey.
Football is a totally different animal and really the only thing that ND puts a lot of money into.
Don't believe me? ND will not build a non-football facility using its athletics revenues. If a donor will pony up the money, it will get built. If not, it won't.
So, finding a home for its minor sports is not at all the same as the status of ND football.
One does not lead to the other. See ND and the Big East 1995-2012.

Basketball first. Then be real good in Olympic Sports. They look at football as something to not worry about. Yes, they desired Clemson, THE U and FSU to be good but not cost of Basketball. UNC cheating scandal probably was the last straw in the brass desiring top notch football. Having ND in for their desired sports less football is no concern. They are happing to do that for ND. ND is prestigious in all aspects.

ACC was expecting a stronger conference team work to sorta box in ND. With ND working the other other conference commissioners very good, they blocked it. (actually good tactic if you are ND)....
Also, ACC appears to be the pretentious conference with lots of titles and prestige but at the end cannot deliver consistent national product on the state. They were riding on the money instead of investing and matching the money 1-1 . (many institutions are cheap)

ND had/has zero desire for football to join the ACC and actively worked to prevent that result.
Why would anyone think that football would join when ND was always so adamantly opposed to the idea that it would do whatever it took to avoid such a result?
Why would the ACC want a football program that strongly does not want to join and be a part of the conference?
Why would the ACC want to "force" or "box in" a program to join a "voluntary" football association, especially a program who hold grudges and whose boosters, donors and fans would strongly resent such action by the ACC and who would be malcontents in the conference because of that?
