Memphis' $150 million renovation of the Liberty Bowl
I'd heard rumors the Big 12 might be looking to expand beyond 12 (after losing OU/texas and adding BYU/Houston/UCF/Cincinnati). This could be a step in that direction for Memphis. Plus, given that massive bowl brawl they had a few years ago, a Memphis/BYU protected rivalry series could be fun as hell.

The issue is going to be geography and whether that part works for the league. With all of this energy inflation going on travel will be at a premium. They will be spread out all over the place across the country.

without national brands you are a Group of conference. I don't care how good Cinci is for this 15 min stretch, or how many people live in Orlando and attend the commuter college there, without TX and OK the B12 has no national appeal at all and thus will not get any attention outside their alumni bases.

Losing the Sips and Clips definitely hurts and they are a worse conference because of it. However, with the new additions, they are still better than the P12. Heck, until we, FSU, and Miami get our act together, they are better than the ACC. Facts.

It's not about who's better. It's about being a draw on TV.
I think it's debatable which of the ACC, Pac12, and new BigXII is better. But if the best teams in each conference can't compete with Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia, it won't really matter anyway.
But for conference survival, it will come down to TV money and teams and games that people want to see.
