Media money isn't unlimited and neither are broadcast TV timeslots. Right now, the B1G and SEC have a large chuck of the media money and broadcast timeslots allocated to them. Even an ACC/Pac merger probably wouldn't significantly increase the amount of TV revenue that those schools would get, so it probably won't happen.

Just a few things that I can think of… ACC commish is rumored to be in running for BIG commish, which creates some possible conflict of interest (depending on if he really is a top candidate) Two ACC schools have now publicly whines about needing more money and unequal sharing PAC still does not have a new media deal BIG is rumored to still be looking at expansion BIG still doesn’t have a new commish ESPN lost the rights to BIG football

They had ACC winter meetings 1-2 weeks ago...(of course press release happy happy glad glad) from the commissioner's office. I'm sure that the money situation was discussed and I dont think that Clemson and FSU got their way, and was reported back to their leadership and we are NOW getting drama. ACC is very risk adverse. They are living and dying the GOR. Most of the membership knows the GOR and ESPN contract sucks however, they know that the GOR is the only thing that keeps the conference together. I dont know legally, but is the GOR bound for the 14/15 teams and if expansion occurs, the members just sign up as a new member or does the membership has to renew an amended document. (and if so, could you trust clemson and FSU to renew or see it as an option to bolt) no one trusts no one. but I really like the PAC ACC merger concur. I dont know if ESPN would buy it in their financial environment . (They love the current acc contract, and i think espn would agree with merger with the PAC 12 but they would pony up with the PAC 12 folks the same money as the ACC members 35 million and say that's it. (350,000,000 outlay) I dont see them ponying up 55 million for 14 members of the ACC (acc members get a 20 million plus up) and 10 members of the PAC 10 (55 million dollar per team). that would be extra 1,110,000 espn outlay. but we can hope.

talking because Yormark wants to make the PAC look weaker and Klickoff(sp) is trying to counter his rhetoric. Now that's my half full answer, my half empty is that Jim Phillips is looking at the B1G commissioner job. Time will tell which glass is right.

Wow, that makes the ACC very vulnerable. Who is looking out for the conference, and be able to exchange between the institutions so the conference dont get into drama (sorta like FSU and clemson). Swofford was very very good, in working behind the scenes with university leadership to be a good listener, nip things before it became crazy. I remember Swofford would have several individual meetings with FSU Trustees (one on one to not get into FOI needs). I dont know Phillips iis more interested in interviews or looking for his house back in Chicago. If he leaves would Ben Tario the deputy, would be the acting?? I read his background, alot of experience in big east office (and we know that leadership group)
