All the other conferences are wheelin' & dealin' and everybody gets the impulse that The ACC should follow. The ACC owns no content... NONE! It all belongs to ESPN 'til 2036. They have nothing to sell to ESPN or any other network. ESPN already has the rights for Cincy and WVU. They got the benefit of a big TV audience for Pitt/WVU this season and they can have more of the same without moving anybody anywhere. Why do you think WVU and Cincy will join The ACC when so many ACC members are dying to get out? That's a hard sell.

You can’t just move basketball because no other conference is going to want Gonzaga without basketball including the conference they are in now (WCC). It is going to be interesting to see how the rest of the college sports world reacts to this possibility.

If most of the sports end up in the Big XII, it is likely that UCF, Cincy, and WVU may only make trips to Spokane for maybe half of them because the "regular season" for some of the sports (i.e. baseball, soccer, tennis, etc.) only allows a team to play the other conference foes 1 game or 1 series. Even if Oregon State and Wazzou end up in the Big XII as @tarheelblue suggests, there's no guarantee that UCF, Cincy, or WVU would have their conference schedule arranged so they play all 3 away or at home in the same season. I suspect most seasons they would only get to play 1 team or 2 teams if they are lucky. Likewise, the same scenario could apply to Gonzaga, Oregon St, and Wazzou. I probably would include Iowa State on that list given that the flight time from Ames, IA to Spokane, WA is somewhere between 5.5 and 7 hours including travel time to Des Moines, IA (Des Moines International Airport). It doesn't appear there are any direct flights between those 2 airports, so I don't know if the schools would be able to charter a direct flight vs. have a connecting flight in either Minneapolis or Denver. FWIW I know some of the "smaller DI schools" are willing to do the connecting flight option because I have seen tweets where a team was stuck at an airport due to bad weather. The reason I was curious about the travel time between those 2 airports is because either school could be starting a multi-game road trip or heading home from a multi-game road trip and it could be a much bigger issue for games played during the middle of the week. Also, it would give me an idea of the time range for the other Big XII members in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.

TV ratings would be off the charts with more money to be made (as you alluded too in your other postings). Gonzaga playing a Big 12 schedule: GZ - KU, GZ - BU, GZ - TT, GZ - UH, etc., would get monster TV ratings. If true then it unlocks several potential next steps. And even if it doesn’t happen, props to the B12 for being creative and weaving their straw into gold. 1. Huge for basketball, in what is already the second best P5 league (ACC still #1 with all our titles) 2. Zags alone would be on an island. But, look at who is a short distance away from them and could expand the conference geography and would likely jump. Wash St, Oregon St, and Boise St. 3. If the B12 can get the northwest, the. It helps their sales pitch to the four corner schools. Zags open the door and give a path for the B12 to get up to as many as 20 if they want. All speculation of course. But the potential is there if this rumor is true.
