ESPN Value Prop Enhanced Even as Cable TV Audience Fractures
Not sure I agree with the premise of Magnus (ESPN SVP of programming) arguement especially since The article states ESPN+ isnt profitable WTH?

So YouTubeTV now costs $50/month without Disney/ABC/ESPN channels. And Hulu+Live TV (owned by disney) recently raised its price to $70/month, but it now includes Disney+ and ESPN+ as part of that price.

the statement that Disney folded?

So it seems logical that since YouTube had already informed their customers about the removal of the channel and the price reduction that they were fully prepared to go through with it. This move by YouTube seemed to call Disney's bluff. I could be wrong, but that's what makes most sense to me.

After only one day the subscriber exodus left YouTube no choice. The point is not that you could not be right but, that based on currently known information there really is NO basis to make your original statement or assert that is the most logical conclusion.

How familiar are you with the industry? In these situations who most often has more to lose, the carrier or the content provider? Any idea about the respective balance sheets of YTTV and Disney and their ability to absorb a revenue shock? I do not believe your theory is anywhere near as likely as you do.

They put everything that was on ESPN3 plus Ultimate fighting and ACCN Extra and other stuff. That's a lot of expense to charge off at $6 a month.

These World Soccer Leagues have to have cost that hits the ESPN+ bottom line too. ESPN signed up La Liga and Bundesliga. CBS signed up Serie A, Brasileiro Série A, and Argentine Primera Division. All of this was prompted by NBC's success with English Premier League. Ligue 1 is still on BeIN Sports for now.
After gobbling up half a dozen of the top soccer leagues in the world, I wonder if they are making money on them.

I know a lot of businesses are built on losing money in the early stages so that they can get the major share and then jack up the price because you are the only option, but that doesn't always work either.
You know things like, you need to expand the College Football Playoff to generate more money, but the Conferences and ND (same number of votes as the ACC and SEC etc.) can't see eye to eye.
Dang that Texas A&M!! :-)
