ODU are no pushovers. Wiliam and Mary is a quality FCS team. Too bad George Mason has no football team. They would be a force in a few years if they ever had one.

For those of us old enough to be Hokie fans in the 20th century. I was a VT student from 97-01. Could you imagine in 1999 that UVA and Va Tech would NOT be the top 2 college football teams in Virginia? We are in this twilight zone in 2023 where James Madison and Liberty have surpassed both teams in quality and records. I don't think Va Tech (or UVA for that matter) would win against either JMU or LU if they played this season theoretically. Maybe the Commonwealth Cup needs to be given to the Dukes at this point.

VA Tech football only has to have moderate improvement to instantly vault to be a contender to be the best ACC team not named Clemson.

That way the NCAA sports can go back to having regional based conferences. The travel for wrestling teams, swimming, volleyball and such for something like VA Tech to Syaracuse or West Virgininia to Iowa must be insane. I think doing this might bring some sanity back.

For multiple reasons. Most of all you did not get be a student when VT won multiple Big East/ACC titles. Absolutley glorious to be an active on campus student during a season where VT wins the title. I was a student at VT from 1997 to 2001. We know what VT football did in that time period. Beyond football, you had less tuition, less politics on campus, less sensory overload technology (cell phones and such), and less regulations (covid, etc). Anybody reading this who was a VT student in the 1990s and early 2000s hopefully can relate to what I am saying. Those were great years to be Va Tech student.

These schools are certaily big enough to have them. I thought once ODU went to football it would not be long before GMU and VCU got in. None so far though :-(

What I got now 1. James Madison 2. Liberty 3. Old Dominion 4. William and Mary 5. Virginia Tech 6. Virginia 7. Richmond 8. Hampton 9. Norfolk State I would love for George Mason and VCU to have a football teams. Mason especiually. Way overdue by the way.

Stil seems like a slot for an in-state FCS team. Liberty I think is FBS now?

Never heard Scott until the first LIV tournament. When I looked up his wiki and saw he was Tech I became a fan. No VT logo on any of his clothes though. He wears long sleeves on the hottest days to stop sun burn I guess. If I was a pro golfer. I'd walk with an umbrella between shots. That would be my shtick.

I see that on the VT sked here soon? Seems like a waste of a game to me. Should be used for in-state opponents. Liberty, JMU, William and Mary. Still hope one day George Mason will have a team.

...this conference in action. They made a great move adding the 4 schools that they did. Maybe adding Gonzaga for non-football sports is something else they can pull off. But for football, I am excited at how this will go. I think one of the 4 new teams could certainly win the conference in the first season they are in it. Like VA Tech in the ACC in 2005.
