An interesting thing dawned on me reading all the comments below. Those who hold VT as a better than average odds of being included in one of the P2 base it on things that VT has done above itself and the idea that VT could grow to be a true national player with P2 help. Those who think we are in trouble don't give much advantage to what a school has done above it's "resources." Neither are they interested in a non national name coming in and beating them. They want situations that make them better. That is more esources. The Lane experience, that is VT exceeding. Everybody has home games and tailgates. But VT just created something out of smaller crowds than most of the big boys do with bigger crowds. But it sure seems that no school will vote in a school for what it does "better" with what they have. History shows that schools vote in new members is based on how those new members make the individual school voting for them better. The article on PSU to Big article and the opposition to PSU then is and was very similar to the opposition to VT from the ACC for years and for inclusion today. Enter Sandman seems to pale to even the scorn of a more rural location (As PSU was in 1990) and much less "what is in it for me." by the individual schools casting the votes. One final comment, I do not believe that PSU to the ACC would have happened. Just like Bo at Mich and Bobby at IU, PSU had Joe who pretty much told the pres what to do. Indications are he thought the south and alliances with southern schools beneath him.
