You can't even be sure the university presidents will always be the ones

making the decisions because there are too many unknown variables right now. Some examples of unknown variables includes the following: 1. The potential for student-athletes to receive a salary and be re-classified as employees. 2. The potential for the athletic departments to spin off into their own entities and the schools continue to be the primary sponsors for the athletic teams. 3. The university presidents could decide to change the relationship between academics and athletics so there is a much more clear separation between them. Basically if a conference wishes to expand the number of athletic members, then it would have no bearing on the academic side. Also, it could mean a shift to ADs having the final say on any athletic matters while the university presidents retaining the final say on any academic matters. 4. Fox and the Big Ten or ESPN and SEC could mutually agree on a dollar amount which opens the door for both conferences to add questionable members for whatever reason. Once the door has been opened, then it is unlikely to close again. 5. University presidents' opinions of potential candidate could always change at some point in the future. Remember nothing is ever set in stone. ** Edited by VTHokie2000 at 5/18/2023, 5:39:08 PM ** Edited by VTHokie2000 at 5/18/2023, 5:39:28 PM

Don't think B1G or SEC need more football.

I agree that at the moment the ACC has performed better in the NCAA
Old Line Hokie 05/18/23 11:10 AM ET
I think the problem with the ACC basketball is ESPN would rather talk SEC

The SEC (and ESPN) may be more motivated to keep the Big Ten (and Fox) out

But ESPN has to be willing to pay the SEC for it.
