The reason I say that is because the P2s will want to make sure they have enough schools participating in all the sports they decide to sponsor. As a result, it could mean that schools like Kansas State, Colorado State, UNLV, and even Iowa State could find themselves with a seat at the table. Particularly if the P2s use these super conferences has creation enough separation from the other NCAA members so they no longer have to worry about the political pressure from the federal or state levels. Once they form their own association or new division level within the NCAA, then they are free to break up these super conferences into more regionally based conferences since all conferences would receive the same payouts. As a result, some of these regional conference could need to add a few members so every conference ends up with the same number. Right now there are still too many unknowns to get a good sense of what the networks want since they seem to be driving the bus. If they want a super league for just football and all the other sports remain under the NCAA umbrella, then you could see the Big Ten and SEC with 2 different set of memberships. One set would be just for football and the other set would be for all the other sports. There is even a possibility we could the conferences for the NCAA get back to being more regionally based. As a result, we could see Kansas, Kansas St, Nebraska, Iowa, Iowa St, Mizzou, Minn, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Northwestern end up in a conference together. At the same time, Illinois and Northwestern could decide they would rather be in a conference with Indiana and Purdue which could free up their spots to Colorado and Colorado St. A lot of different possibilities since the money issue for the NCAA sports may not be as big of deal as it is for football since football is the driving factor right now.
