Given what is going on now in DC, it is probably worthwhile for people to

raise questions on the intent of any legislation passed by Congress and/or any policy enacted by an agency. Even if the intent is for this new organization to be a non-political one, it doesn't necessarily mean a politician won't try to politicize it at some point in the future. If/When that were to ever happen, then it would create a sticky wicket for both the schools and the players to try to navigate. Self-governing doesn't seem to work at the DI big boy level because it has evolved into the fox guarding the hen house and then wonder why the coop has no eggs or hens the next morning. An organization created strictly from federal laws and/or policies may not be any better either. The sweet spot may end up being a hybrid of the two in some fashion.
