I think the UNC fan base really prefers the SEC over the B10, and this is

the one thing that might play to VT's favor. UNC just ran out their Chancellor - probably for this reason. If they are that eager to join the SEC rather than the B10, then tanking VT for UVa might not be that critical and the SEC can call their bluff and pull in VT over UVA. In which case, will the VA politicians drop the "package deal" language if VT has a spot WITHOUT UVA?
