especially when you consider the DC area. When VT played Southern Cal in Fedex or UGA in the GA Dome, it was much bigger and a tougher ticket than any NFL game. Likewise VT played Tenn in the largest attendance game ever. There NO WAY that UVA could EVER do that. The way I see it, the problem with VT is that they've been backstabbed by UNC for over 60 years. If you are going for the VA market, VT is a much better item than UVA. They just don't have anywhere the rabidness or following that VT does. The other reason is that our administration is bit too choir-boy and gentlemanly to grab what needs to be taken and blowtorch it's way through the UNC/Tobacco Road crap that they have unilaterally disarmed to over this period. If we had our own throat-stomping dirtbags running things none of this uncertainty would be lingering. All this could have been avoided in 2011 by grabbing Mizzou's SEC spot (that Mizzou wasn't that eager to join). Yet here we are getting to watch UNC play Lucy to pull the football away from Charlie Brown (VT) again. IF ONLY SOMEONE HAD SEEN THIS COMING!! If you think that adding market is the driver for this is market share - which I do, then VT is a much-preferred option to UVA for the VA market. The reason UVA is being mentioned is because of UNC's sleazy legacy tactics once again. How is this not the correct lens through which to view this? That's the way I look at it and that is why is it is so infuriating. The VT administrators have a bit of an academic inferiority complex to UVA and UNC and think that by kissing up to UNC they will get to join the club, but they won't.
