If Memphis makes the ACC money, I would add them.

I have come to view the current and near-future conference realignment construct with these two maxims. 1. Academics don't matter (I say this without passion or prejudice). I am speaking as things are or need to be. Not what should be. 2. The ACC has a shelf-life of < 13 years (2036, max). I'm just looking at ways that the existing members can survive and realistically compete nationally until then. The ACC needs to be taking advantage of the provisions in the GOR/TV contract that benefit us, rather than whining (FSU) about the parts we think are killing us. If adding schools from big states help us, and ESPN is bound to pay pro rata, then add, add, add.

I kinda low-key want SMU in the conference.

I don't want any more private schools in the ACC...

Under normal circumstances, I'd agree with you. But these aren't normal

#5 is key. You want schools that are excited to be in the conference.

6. Adding SMU and not Stanford would irritate the desired parties**

I'm leaning that way. If we add those schools and stand pat until 2036,

ACC needs to have presence in Texas at this point.
HOO86 08/18/23 03:40 PM ET
Tulane was one of my side-teams last year. Really enjoyed watching them.
Maroon Baboon 08/18/23 05:48 PM ET
That's why I suggest Tulane verses second from Texas

Agreed. Been saying it for years.
HOO86 08/19/23 04:21 PM ET
IMHO, ESPN doesn’t wont pay for schools, they have Texas & Louisiana in SEC
Stech 08/19/23 08:49 PM ET
I'd rather add Oregon St. For some reason SMU reminds me of Miami
HokieNoVA 08/18/23 02:19 PM ET
These three are better than anyone else that has been floated. Perhaps they
TDVick 08/18/23 01:56 PM ET
Adding Stanford, Cal and SMU...
Old Line Hokie 08/18/23 01:50 PM ET
How many conferences have actually broken up? Even CUSA survived.
4x4hokies 08/18/23 03:20 PM ET
Maybe so?
Old Line Hokie 08/18/23 04:07 PM ET
LOL where are we going if the ACC breaks up?**
BROman Hokie 08/18/23 02:48 PM ET
LOL. No where at the moment.
Old Line Hokie 08/18/23 03:03 PM ET
Good. We want the acc to continue **
SpeakToDamien 08/18/23 02:31 PM ET
#3 I completely agree. ACC needs some edge to it
HokieAl 08/18/23 01:20 PM ET
They got what they deserved, others like Miami didn't
