2 statements that you make I find interesting.
1. "The way to make more money is to increase the number of higher quality games that will be viewed by more people." With a little room for exception, I totally agree. But the ACC brass is so stupid, that they just gave up Miami-VT as an annual game, so I have zero confidence that they would understand what you are talking about. That being said, I think any ACC-Pac merger talk would be based on potential and risk, and should not be completely dismissed. For example, I think an FSU-Washington game or Clemson-Oregon game would be far more interesting nationally than FSU-Wake, or Clemson-BC. I'd even go as far as to say UVa-Cal, or Miami-Colorado or VT-Arizona State would be upgrades to the schedule nationally and otherwise.
2. "But find a way for all three to profit and there is no reason not to do it." This is a good and fair statement. I think the ACC should at least do its due diligence and consider their options here. I am not certain it would be a slam dunk--everyone's gonna get rich--this will save college football from itself--deal. But at this point, I am willing to take a risk--because the status quo is going to likely destroy us anyway. And Pac schools would be taking a big risk as well, as they would be signing on for a dozen years.

I'd approach ACC business with the idea that CONTRACTION starts in 2036.
