WRT VT and GT not playing each other for 2023-2026, we don't know the ACC's

logic as to why VT was paired with Pitt and Wake instead of Miami and/or GT. Yeah I know Miami's AD asked not to be paired with VT, but that doesn't mean a conference has to honor every request particularly if the request isn't in the best interest of the conference. When any organization shows more favoritism to certain members, then it is easier to breed discontent among the members. It can also make the decision easier for unhappy members to leave the organization and find a new home in an organization where they are treated with the same level of respect as the other members. The problem with guessing which teams will be good or bad is the schedules aren't released at the same time the predictions are made. The schedules are released to the public in January/February/March. While the predictions are made in August. A lot can happen between those time periods which could have an impact on a team. Wake's current situation proves my point because it is a completely different team without Hartman. What happens if a conference guesses wrong in Jan/Feb/Mar when it decides to give Team X a bye the final week of the regular season and Team X qualifies for the conference playoffs? It would seem to me the much easier solution for a conference is to ensure it always have an even number of members. At least that way it guarantees that no member will be without a dance partner in any given week.

A potential problem with this scenario is that you are sacrificing rivalry
