Hokie, the reason you came up with is a "good" reason, but not a critical
one. If The B1G grows beyond twenty (very likely) it would not surprise me to see some obtuse configuration like 23 teams in four divisions: 6,6,6, and only five Out West. Or 25 teams with seven Out West. I doubt that anyone, anywhere knows what these conferences will look like in their next iteration, but I suspect that tidy symmetry is not on the list of "must-haves."
