They tried to get into the ACC.

I remember a report about Memphis having a talk with the ACC back in 2021 or 2022. Also from Dellenger’s article: “The pricy nature of Memphis’ offer speaks to its unwavering desire to elevate to a power conference — something the program attempted to do years ago with the ACC.”
