If that is true, then why did they choose in the late '70s to mid-80s to
compete in the DI-FBS subdivision instead of the DI-FCS subdivision? You even saw a group of schools bring a lawsuit in the early '80s after they were told they would be competing in the DI-FCS subdivision. When you look at the conference realignment movement since 1980, there have been only a handful of schools who have chosen to switch from DI-FBS to DI-FCS in football. Idaho being the most recent school. The schools have had plenty of opportunities to show they don't care if their football team doesn't compete at the highest level of college football. So far, their actions do not support your claim.
