This post assumes that Whit is supposed to be or allowed to compete for

funds with Sands and the academic side. I don't believe Whit has the freedom to compete with the academic side at all. Rather athletics is and always will be funded primarily within the larger academic umbrella. I don't think Sands or any other president not in the SEC would allow that.
