One reason may be in the current instability of the ACC and trying

to direct FSU and Clemson to where they want them to be. Put another way, ESPN is up to their eyeballs in negotiations with FSU, Clemson, maybe UNC, the ACC and SEC to hammer out the best possible outcome for ESPN. They are not through with negotiations yet and the final offer back to the ACC will not be made until they either win or lose with FSU and Clemson.
