I agree, but Whit dont have that data

WHit got the information he knows, he dont have the economic data. However, this briefing is not about just athletics but the eintire university operation, and from the entire university enterprise servicing the commonweath and nation, not just local. From the BOV they are looking at the entire university, on the 4 pillars or excellence that guide everything and matching it with projected revenue, the endowment (From VT developmetn office lead) and sources (or lack of sources) and ways to still achieve these pillars. They are looking at pluses and minus of increases in enrollment changing percentage of in state versus out of state to generate more revenue , better valuation of VT portfolio of real estate. etc. AND adding (or not) the pillar of increase in athletics. From a VT strategic plan perspective, athletics was never part of the process so they were not considered. (thats another discussion), however I know when Sands lkicked of the strategic planning effort, The Athletic dept leaders did nto partiicpate at all. Now the university challenge is 1) Is Athletics important to the university ?? 2) If so should it be a pillar like VT Advantage 2) WOrld CLass ranking 3) Top 25 in R&D and 4) Innovvation and entrenueriism. (should it be no 5). and if so how to redevide a constrained resource stream to be nationally competitive as with the rest.
