My take is that ESPN will want it (eventually)

They won't want certain ACC schools to bolt to the Big Ten. So they'll tell the ACC to adjust the revenue stream to keep FSU and others relatively happy for a few years. And then when the time comes, ESPN will shift who they want from the ACC to the SEC for a reasonable exit fee, and in exchange, the ACC schools get to reap the windfalls of the exit fees and ESPN won't renew the Big 12 deal and will instead shift the Big 12 schools that ESPN values to the ACC.

Can someone make a solid argument why you think the ACC will cut penalties?

Only way would be if ESPN simultaneously extended ACC media rights deal.

I agree with the scenario with a caveat

The B12 has the geography, The PAC didn't, and the ACC doesn't. **

If you mean nationwide reach, ACC could get there with a few B12 schools.

I am saying "if" the Mag 7+1 leave for the P2, I could see the ACC trying

ESPN article says FSU & Clemson trying to cut penalties by 2031, that's key

A football secession would be a pretty clean option.

Not only that, but you could also consider different

No, it's not that, it's more with expansion, the B12 can go West, or
