Going to 14 - Heard this as well

Don't post much anymore, but I did want to share this one. Had a chat with an NBC Sports exec last month at a production I work on. He said the playoff committee likely will first go to 14, then 16. It is likely we have this 12-team model next year again, then the switch to 14 for two years, then 16 after that. You are correct in replying that NBC doesn't have the CFP rights and thus may not know what's going on. Just found it interesting.

Ross Dillinger, we can only have 14 in 2026, that’s not guaranteed. January

IIRC, he also talked about 4 team auto bids for the P2s.

Good information, I thought they would change to 16 faster, but that’s not

In the opinion of the average fan, the CFP is working great.

I think they are fighting the conference championship games because

Right I think once they do the 1st round on campus games, 16 w/ on campus

Just add a "week 13" or "CFP Week 0"...

14 is so transparently a set up to have P2 byes.

The jump from 4 to 12 really waters it down. So I'm good with staying at 12

There are sound reasons that they didn't go to sixteen in the first place.

True. But also freaking out that Boise and ASU are now equal to UGA & Ore.
Truthahn 12/10/24 11:33 AM ET
I want 16 no Conference Championship knockout games, yeah they honored it
Stech 12/09/24 09:39 PM ET
it certainly is, but do we even know if byes are a good thing...
BUGGZY 12/09/24 09:25 PM ET
The byes give the perception that those are the four best teams.

It will be the home games that will become important. **

I agree, and I hope they expand that to the quarter finals eventually**
